In sections as follows: Letters written for the most part by patients in the Salpêtrière, Paris, 1851-1856; Letters and drawings by patients in various French asylums, c 1857-1890; Letters from the Chevalier Marie Martial d'Arzac, confined as insane, 1816; Collection of letters relating to asylums in France, 1837-1887.

The papers are available subject to the usual conditions of access to Archives and Manuscripts material, after the completion of a Reader's Undertaking.

Photocopies/photographs/microfilm are supplied for private research only at the Archivist's discretion. Please note that material may be unsuitable for copying on conservation grounds, and that photographs cannot be photocopied in any circumstances.
