Biographical history
The Faculty of Life Sciences was established in 1987 following the merger in 1985 of King's, Queen Elizabeth and Chelsea Colleges. Previously, its constituent departments had mainly formed part of the Faculty of Natural Science. The College's academic structure was reorganised into Schools in 1989, when the School of Life, Basic Medical and Health Sciences came into being. In 1998, this was subdivided into the School of Health and Life Sciences, and the School of Biomedical Sciences.

The College's academic structure was reorganised into Schools in 1989, when the School of Life, Basic Medical and Health Sciences came into being. In 1998, this was subdivided into the School of Health and Life Sciences, and the School of Biomedical Sciences.
School of Health and Life Sciences

Withdrawals include the date of leaving or a form signifying permanent withdrawal from the College. Postgraduate files cover mainly MSc and PhD students and include an enrolment form, postgraduate reply form, application for admission, change of course forms, letter regarding award, title of thesis and examiner's reports in the case of PhD students, degree registration form, correspondence and Registry memoranda. Examination results include mid-sessional, replacement and summer examination results. Record cards include details of previous examinations, a photograph, date of entry, and some course and results information.

Files are generally arranged by year of leaving, then alphabetically. Late additions to the series are organised according to the year they were deposited in the archives. Examination results are organised within academic years. Record cards are arranged in an alphabetical run.
Subject to an eighty year closure period from date of leaving, but may be consulted by the School Office and other College staff with permission from the Head of School.
Copies, subject to the condition of the original, can be supplied to School Office staff. Requests to publish original material should be submitted to the Director of Archive Services, King's College London.
