Biografie
Mason entered the Navy in 1803 and served on the Channel Station and then in the AMPHION, Mediterranean. He was captured by the French in 1809, escaped the following year and was made a lieutenant in 1811. His subsequent service was off Lisbon and in the Mediterranean. He was promoted to commander in 1815, after which he saw no further active service.

Mason entered the Navy in 1803 and served on the Channel Station and then in the AMPHION, Mediterranean. The papers were presented by Dr. A.B. Clark in 1970.
Papers of Henry Browne Mason, consisting of a typewritten transcript of Mason's autobiography from 1791 to 1831; four logs which he kept in the AMPHION between 1805 and 1808, a watch bill for the WARSPITE, undated; a signal book, undated, and copies of five letters written between 1805 and 1812 concerning Daniel Finch (1647-1730), second Earl of Nottingham and an ancestor of Mason's.
