W H McMenemey was Professor of Pathology at the Institute of Neurology, University of London, and Consulting Pathologist to the National Hospitals for Nervous Diseases. He was for many years a member of the Association of Clinical Pathologists, serving as Secretary 1943-1957, and President 1958-1959. As well as being a distinguished neuropathologist, he was also noted as a medical historian.
