Most of these papers were presented to the Library of the Wellcome Institute for the History of Medicine by Mrs Murgatroyd in December 1953 and transferred from Western Manuscripts to the Contemporary Medical Archives Centre in October 1980. The letters of appointment (A.2) and the material on vaccination (Section D) were among the papers of Professor Alan Woodruff, Murgatroyd's successor as Professor of Clinical Tropical Medicine (PP/AWW). They were extracted and added to this collection in June 1997.
