        These papers are largely concerned with Humphreys' involvement in the development and promotion of Latin American Studies in Britain. The collection is roughly divided into three series. The 'correspondence' section includes letters from a variety of people, including British historians such as Hugh Hale Bellot and historians of Latin America and the USA (1934 to 1982). Amongst the papers of committees and conferences promoting Latin American Studies in Great Britain in the second section are: papers of the University College London Advisory Committee and the University Grants Committee on Latin American Studies; correspondence relating to committees; interview papers and reports. The third section contains items created by Professor Humphreys including unpublished papers, and printed newspaper articles.

        This collection contains personal papers, correspondence, official documents and literary and autobiographical scripts created by or relating to German-speaking exiles and exile-related organisations mainly in the UK. Some of the material dates from the period before and during the Second World War, such as a biography of Hitler by Rudolf Olden in the 1930s, and records of the activities of prisoners in internment camps on the Isle of Man in the early 1940s. A significant proportion of the collection is material created in the post-war period on the subject of exile, such as autobiographical accounts of exile by individual refugees, and the research papers of the Research Centre for German and Austrian Exile Studies. There are also records (including some copies of publications) of literary and other scripts focusing on the experience of exile and the events leading to it, written by exile poets, scholars and journalists and others before and after they emigrated.

        PhD thesis submitted by Margaret Tatiana Rose to Hull University, 1988, entitled "Philips Price and the Russian Revolution". Morgan Philips Price (1885-?) was correspondent for "The Manchester Guardian" in Russia from 1914 to 1918. He was a founder member of the Union of Democratic Control which opposed Britain's entry into the First World War. His reports from Russia became increasingly radical and supportive of the Bolsheviks and were eventually censored.
