The New Road Synagogue, situated at 115 New Road, Whitechapel, was established in 1895. Dunk Street Beth Hamerdash, also situated in Whitechapel, was incorporated into the New Road Synagogue in the 1960s, having been founded in 1907. Both establishments were affiliated to the Federation of Synagogues. The New Road Synagogue amalgamated with the East London Central Synagogue in 1974.

The New Road Synagogue, situated at 115 New Road, Whitechapel, was established in 1895. Records of the New Road Synagogue, Whitechapel, 1924-1974. With the exception of the two minute books the majority of the records date from the mid 1960s, when J. Lindsay took over as Secretary of the New Road Synagogue. He remained in post until the amalgamation in 1974. The correspondence files are those which were maintained by J. Lindsay. Their contents reflect the wide range of duties undertaken by members of the Synagogue within the Jewish community.
The archives have been arranged into the following 7 series: Minutes; Federation of Synagogues; Finance; Staff; Membership; Correspondence; Plans. The correspondence files have been arranged chronologically and the arrangement should not be taken to be the original one.
These records are available for public inspection, although records containing personal information may be subject to access restrictions.
