Moses Levy Newton was a West India merchant of 5 Great Prescott Street, Goodmans Fields, who died in 1823.

The records were donated to Guildhall Library, and were catalogued by a member of Guildhall Library staff in 1955. The Guildhall Library Manuscripts Section merged with the London Metropolitan Archives in 2009.
