The London Gas Museum, Bromley-by-Bow, held material inherited from the North Thames Gas Board and its predecessors. In 1998 the museum began to disperse its collections as it prepared to close.

Donated to the Archive in 1998 and 1999.

Records donated by the London Gas Museum, comprising some 400 Ordnance Survey sheets of various scales and editions, 1893-1989. Many have been amended to show property owned or leased by the Gas Light and Coke Company, the Brentford Gas Company or the North Thames Gas Board. These properties tend to be gas works or showrooms. The plans cover only parts of the area north of the River Thames. There are no sheets for areas south of the Thames. A later deposit consisted of staff magazines and photographs for both the North Thames Gas Board and the South Eastern Gas Board.

The plans have been coded as LMA/4223/01, and sorted according to the use to which they were put as well as by sheet number. As far as possible plans of the same county, scale and edition have been kept together. LMA/4223/02: North Thames Gas Board site, publications, photographs and plans LMA/4223/03: South Eastern Gas Board site, publications, photographs and plans.

These records are available for public inspection, although records containing personal information are subject to access restrictions under the UK Data Protection Act, 1998.
