Biographical history
The team was set up by the World Health Organisation to investigate the feasability of the provision of health care by a mobile team in a country without a network of roads. The project established that such a team was not viable, and that health care could be better provided by a system of fixed health centres.

The team was set up by the World Health Organisation to investigate the feasability of the provision of health care by a mobile team in a country without a network of roads. The project established that such a team was not viable, and that health care could be better provided by a system of fixed health centres.
The reports on the pilot mobile health team were given to the Contemporary Medical Archives Centre (now Archives and Manuscripts, Wellcome Library) in August 1992 by Dr Hugh Bernard Langford Russell, who led the team. Dr Russell added the general report and map (141/1) in July 1994.
Carbon copies of typescript quarterly reports, July 1956-December 1957, to the World Health Organisation's Regional Director, Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office, with some monthly progress reports and more detailed breakdowns of activities. Most of the reports are accompanied by photographs and manuscript maps and statistics.
