Janos (John) Plesch was born in Hungary and originally qualified in medicine in Budapest. After studying in Strasbourg he lived and worked in Berlin for over 30 years until he emigrated to England with his family in 1933. Further details of his career can be found in his autobiography Janos: the Story of a Doctor (Victor Gollancz, Ltd, London, 1947).

Janos (John) Plesch was born in Hungary and originally qualified in medicine in Budapest. These letters to his father were given to the Contemporary Medical Archives Centre by Professor P H Plesch of the University of Keele in 1981 and 1982. The letters from Lord Keynes are photocopies of originals sold at auction, while carbon copies of these letters and the originals of J Plesch's replies are to be found among the Keynes papers at King's College Cambridge.
