Records of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, 1760-2002. The archive is central to the history of the modern Jewish community in Britain. It covers virtually every facet of Jewish life in Britain in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries - assimiliation, education, political emancipation, Shechita, anti-Semitism. The Cold War television documentary archive consists of transcripts of 531 interviews concerning events of the Cold War - the political, ideological tension between the United States and the United Soviet Socialist Republic (USSR), 1946-1989, following the end of World War Two, which while falling short of actual war between these two nations, was evident in their foreign and defence policies, and those of their allies.

Interviews were conducted with eyewitnesses from the US, USSR, Germany, Poland, Britain, Czechoslovakia, Italy, France, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Spain, Vietnam, Korea, China, Israel Egypt, South Africa, Angola, Cuba, Chile, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Afghanistan and Pakistan, and including politicians, policy makers and advisors, diplomats, journalists, academics, members of armed forces, dissidents, peasants, factory workers and civilians.

US Military Intelligence Reports: Japan, 1918-1941 is a themed microfilm collection relating to US Military Intelligence Division (MID) in Japan, 1918- 1941. Included in the collection are microfilmed copies of US MID reports from the military attaché and his staff, and correspondence and telegrams between the military attaché, his staff, US Army Headquarters and the Japanese Imperial Army Headquarters, and US and foreign diplomats throughout the Far East. These documents have been arranged into eight sections: general conditions, political conditions, economic conditions, general conditions in Korea, army, field artillery, navy, and aviation. These sections are not mutually exclusive and all include a range of routine and special reports. The Diaries of Dwight D Eisenhower, 1953-1961, consists of a varied body of microfilmed manuscripts that contain several categories of material, arranged chronologically by month and year. Diary entries and dictated correspondence are filed in folders entitled 'DDE Diary'; 'DDE Personal Diary'; or 'DDE Dictation'. The bulk of actual diary entries falls into the years 1953-1956. Another prominent category is memoranda of telephone conversations with the more detailed conversations dating prior to 1959. The largest body of material is the official White House staff memoranda, reports, correspondence, and summaries of congressional correspondence. These types of documents are found in folders labelled 'Miscellaneous', 'Goodpaster', 'Staff Memos', and after 1957, 'Staff Notes'. Herein are the memoranda of conversations, or 'memcons', prepared by Gen Andrew Jackson Goodpaster, Defense Liaison Officer and Staff Secretary to the President of the United States. From 1956 to the end of the administration, 'Toner Notes' were produced, so named for White House staff member Albert Toner, who with fellow White House Research Group member Christopher Russell, prepared daily intelligence briefings for the President. Heilbrunner's account of life in Dachau, 1933, is a typescript memoir of Jewish inmate, Heilbrunner, in 1933. Written in the form of a narrative in the first person; structured into four chapters, describes in some detail the conditions in the camp and the brutality of the camp guards, contains manuscript annotations and corrections.

Papers concerning Theresienstadt, 1940s, comprise copies of a report by Dr Muneles on the Hebrew book cataloguing project at Theresienstadt, 1945; typescript report regarding Theresienstadt, an inventory of the land and property, 1945; history of Theresienstadt during the Nazi era and typescript report on the situation there, providing statistical information relating to the inmates and transcriptions of documents produced during the camp's existence by both the Nazi camp authorities and the Jewish self-governing body.

Papers concerning antisemitic discrimination in the Third Reich, 1935-1940, relating to the workplace discrimination against Jews during this period and notably comprise copies of correspondence including a notification to Willy Kroener, a dentist, that he must have a plaque outside his house stating that treatment is restricted to Jews only, 20 Feb 1939; correspondence to Magdalena Meyerstein, Leipzig, from the Reichstheaterkammer that she can no longer be a member of that organisation, 9 Apr 1937-6 Sep 1940 and a pro-forma letter from the Reichsnährstand, Kleve, Rheinland, regarding the treatment of those who have dealings with Jewish traders, [1930s].

Papers of the office of Reichsführer SS, 1938-1944, mostly emanate from the office of Reichsführer SS and deal with administrative matters. The collection comprises correspondence between the office of the Reichsführer SS and Reichskulturwalter Hans Hinkel (mainly) regarding administrative and cultural matters, 1939-1944 and an incomplete monthly information sheet Befehle und Mitteilungen, 1939-1942. It most notably includes two original letters from Reichsführer SS, Himmler (1144/1/14-/23); an incomplete set of an in-house information sheet providing instructions to SS members on a variety of matters such as dress protocol for visits to concentration camps by SS members (1144/2/4); qualification for wearing the 'Death's Head' ring of the SS (1144/2/2); and orders forbidding membership of clubs deemed inappropriate.

The archive consists of papers relating to the Guildhouse Fellowship and lecture tours of Dr Agnes Maude Royden. It includes Guildhouse Fellowship newsletters (1941, 1942, 1950) and lists of key events and speakers at the Guildhouse (1921-1940). Detailed letters from Daisy Dobson report home to friends and colleagues on travels in the United States of America and India during Royden's world lecture tour (1928). As well as providing information on Royden's schedule, the letters describe the landscape, people and culture of the countries they visit and comment with humour and frustration on the practicalities of their trip. A later letter describes sea travel during the Second World War for Royden's lecture tour of the United States of America (1941-1942).

The collection consists of correspondence, diaries and autobiographical notes, scrapbooks, photographs and drafts, produced by Muriel Lester as founder of Kingsley Hall and as Secretary for the International Fellowship of Reconciliation. This second role, as well as promotion of Christian pacificism, led Muriel to travel widely, including several visits to Japan and China. Also included are leaflets, reports, pamphlets, documents and photographs of Kingsley Halls and Children's House Bow, and Kingsley Hall Dagenham. Further material includes Doris Lester's personal papers, the files collected by Sydney Russell as Minister Warden of Kingsley Hall Dagenham, Winifred Barnard's material and publications collected by Lester and others, (1878-1991).

Typescript of Mary Sheepshank's autobiography 'The Long Day Ended' (1880s-1930s). These reminiscences provide interesting descriptions of South America in the 1920s, and of a chapter in the history of the Ukrainian fight for independence.

The archive consists of Priscilla Norman's personal collection of pamphlets, publications and propaganda material relating to the suffrage campaigns. There was a strong tradition of Liberal support in Lady Norman's family, and some of the material is concerned with their activities. The archive includes circular letters and memoranda from the Workers' Suffrage Federation, the National League for Opposing Woman Suffrage and the Men's Liberal Suffrage Union. Also included are pamphlets dating from the late 1870s, a series of annual reports of the Edinburgh National Society for Women's Suffrage (1875-1883), and some anti-suffrage material sent to Sir Henry Norman as a Member of Parliament.

Papers of the Reichsminister des Innern, 1944, comprise a list of addresses of the main Nazi government officials produced by the Reichsminister des Innern, marked 'Secret'.

Copies of court judgements of the Verwaltungsgerichtshof, Vienna, 1954-1956, including judgement in which the appeal of David Lustig (former inmate of a camp in Italy) against an earlier court decision denying his claim of nazi-victim status is upheld, 16 Sep 1954 and judgement in which the appeal of Dr Jacques Karl Wechsler against an earlier court decision denying his claim of nazi-victim status is upheld on account of his detention in camps in Italy and loss of earnings and pension which resulted therefrom, 21 Jun 1956.

Papers of Ferdinand Schwarz documenting, in part, the process of emigration from Germany to England in 1939, comprising correspondence from Ferdinand Schwarz and his father, Max Schwarz to Ella Courts on emigration procedures from Germany to England; copy of a letter from the Jüdische Beratungsstelle für Wirtschaftshilfe to Schwarz confirming that the latter will receive a permit from the German Jewish Aid Committee; application form from the German Jewish Aid Committee for persons desiring to leave Germany on political, racial or religious grounds and a stamp coupon.

Reports on the situation of Jews in Sudetenland, [1939], including report on conditions for Jews in various Sudetenland towns and cities, 6 Mar 1939; report reviewing conditions for Jews throughout the whole of Sudetenland under the headings of 'welfare', 'old people's homes', 'children's schooling' and 'emigration', 9 Mar 1939 and report reviewing the social, economic and legal situation of the Jews in Sudetenland and recommending action to address problems arising from the report.
