At the front of the volume is a letter dated 25 March 1822 from James Carrick Moore to Sir Henry Halford, which states that Sir John Pringle, when on his death bed, gave the book to Dr. Huck Saunders, saying that it taught him all the medicine he knew. Dr Huck Saunders, shortly before his death gave it to Dr John Moore, Father of James Carrick Moore, who gave it to Sir Henry Halford, President of RCP.
