The church of Saint Barnabas was constructed in 1870 to the designs of William Butterfield. A district chapelry was assigned to the church in 1873, taken from parts of the parishes of Saint Mary and All Saints. By the 1960s the parish had merged with that of Saint Katharine, Rotherhithe.

Records P71/BAR/1-4 deposited by the vicar on 23 February 1967. Records P71/BAR/5-23 deposited by the vicar on 6 May 1969.

Records of the parish of St Barnabas, Rotherhithe, comprising registers of baptisms; registers of marriages; lists of preachers; registers of church services; and papers relating to Rotherhithe Church Schools.
