Biographical history

Saint Matthew's Church was consecrated in 1853. In 1940 the church was badly damaged by bombing. Saint Matthew's already shared an incumbent with Saint Paul, Lisson Grove (P89/PAU2), and after the war, it was formally united with Saint Paul's.

Parish records deposited by the Rector of Christ Church, Cosway Street, in Westminster City Libraries Archives Department, Marylebone Library, in 1971, and transferred to the Greater London Office, 18 April 1980 and additional records deposited by the Rector of Christ Church in the Greater London Record Office, 17 December 1981.

Records of the parish of Saint Matthew, Maida Hill, St Marylebone, including registers of baptisms and marriages; church services registers; minutes of the annual meeting of Parishioners; and parish magazines.
