GB 0120 MSS.7562-7569 1796-1913 Collection (fonds) 9 files Various

These manuscripts comprise material gathered by Norman Comben, a retired vet and dealer in books and manuscripts on veterinary topics, 1796-1913. The items originate from a wide variety of places in the United Kingdom; areas particularly well-represented include Cumberland and Westmorland, northern Ayrshire, Linlithgow, Cheshire and the neighbouring areas, and Herefordshire.

Within each manuscript, material is sorted into date order. Where an item spans different dates (for example, a bill is often issued in the year following that in the services charged for took place, and may carry an endorsement recording payment the year after that) it has been filed according to the latest date on it.

The papers are available subject to the usual conditions of access to Archives and Manuscripts material, after the completion of a Reader's Undertaking.

Photocopies/photographs/microfilm are supplied for private research only at the Archivist's discretion. Please note that material may be unsuitable for copying on conservation grounds, and that photographs cannot be photocopied in any circumstances. Readers are restricted to 100 photocopies in twelve months. Researchers who wish to publish material must seek copyright permission from the copyright owner.
