The Company received a charter from Edward III in 1327, although it may have existed as as fraternity for many years before this date. The Company received additional charters in 1449, 1567, 1640, 1685 and 1937. The Company is recorded hiring Brewers' Hall in 1422/3, but has occupied the site of the present hall in Basinghall Street since 1431.
