Born in 1894; studied history and law at Downing College, Cambridge; 2nd Lt, Northamptonshire Regt, 1917; Lt, 1918; served in France and Belgium, [1918]; called to Bar, Gray's Inn, 1921; joined London Press Exchange, 1922; Director, 1937; General Staff, War Office, 1939; Allied Force HQ, North Africa, 1943; War Office, 1944; served in missions to Belgium, Holland, Germany, Greece, and Italy, 1944-1945; appointed by War Office to write North West Europe volume in HMSO series of short military histories of Second World War; died in 1973.
