The Corn Exchange Benevolent Society was established in 1862 to relieve need, hardship or distress amongst those who were or had been engaged in the corn or grain trades.
The surviving records of the Society were deposited in the Manuscripts Section of Guildhall Library by the Corn Exchange Company Ltd on 17 November 1994. They were catalogued by a member of Guildhall Library staff in 1996. The Guildhall Library Manuscripts Section merged with the London Metropolitan Archives in 2009.
Records of the Corn Exchange Benevolent Society comprising rules, minutes, annual reports, a record of pensioners, and photographs and correspondence relating to the centenary.
The records have been sorted into an order which reflects divisions between the different functions and operations of the organisation and its administration.
