The Ebers Papyrus was named after its owner, Georg Moritz Ebers (1837-1898) and comprises an ancient Egyptian text on medicine. A translation from ancient Egyptian into German was published by Dr. Heinrich Joachim in 1890. These papers comprise a translation of Joachim's work into English by Dr. Arthur F. Hopkirk.

The papers are available subject to the usual conditions of access to Archives and Manuscripts material, after the completion of a Reader's Undertaking.

Another English translation of Joachim's text was published in 1930 by C.P. Bryan: The Papyrus Ebers / translated from the German version by Cyril P. Bryan ... with an introduction by Professor J. Elliot Smith (London : G. Bles, [1930]).
