The company was established in 1960 to acquire the entire issued share capital of the Empire of India and Ceylon Tea Company Limited. Its offices were at 2A Eastcheap until 1968, and from 1968-1971 at 13 Rood Lane. The Caparo Group took over the records in 1982.

The company was established in 1960 to acquire the entire issued share capital of the Empire of India and Ceylon Tea Company Limited. Its offices were at 2A Eastcheap until 1968, and from 1968-1971 at 13 Rood Lane. The Caparo Group took over the records in 1982.
The Caparo Group took over the archives when it took over the company and donated them to Guildhall Library in 1982. The Guildhall Library Manuscripts Section merged with the London Metropolitan Archives in 2009.
Records of Empire of India Holdings Limited, comprising Board of Directors' minutes, annual general meeting minutes and a ledger. The records are held off-site and therefore require 24 hours notice for access.
