This small collection consists of two minute books (containing records of both Directors' and Annual General Meetings) which from 1921, the year in which Caffin and Company was incorporated. There are also various miscellaneous papers, a draft debenture agreement, and a document relating to Caffin (Africa) Limited.

Records of the Shadwell Waterworks Company, 1673-1869, including records relating to the establishment of Shadwell Waterworks, agreement with West Ham Waterworks, opposition to proposed London Docks, purchase of Waterworks by London Dock Company, papers concerning unclaimed shares and ownership of a share in the Shadwell Waterworks.

Records of the Multiple Advertising Clock Company Limited, 1924-1927, including memorandum and articles of association; agreements; letters patent and petty cash receipts.

Records of the Metropolitan Water Board, comprising a certificate of long service issued to Thomas Scarth, employed as collector by Chelsea Water Works Company from 1896 and retired from Metropolitan Water Board in 1937.

Records of the Staines branch of the Citizens' Advice Bureau, including case files and administrative papers such as press packs, day sheets, correspondence and consumer sheets.

Records of Currys Group plc, 1896-1985. The collection comprises records of the parent company and a few records of subsidiary and associated companies.

The records of the parent company include memoranda and articles of association (ACC/3485/1-3), a series of board minute books, 1922-79 (with gaps) (ACC/3485/4-16), which, in addition to policy decisions, include minutes of some annual general meetings and committee meetings, one separate AGM minute book, 1927-72 (ACC/3485/17) and an almost unbroken series of annual reports and statements of accounts presented to shareholders, 1925-83 (ACC/3485/18-74). There are also minutes of meetings of three committees: the directors' committee (known also at various times as the depot management committee, the joint managing directors' committee and the group management committee), 1927-85 (ACC/3485/77-124), at which decisions concerning the operation of the business especially at branch level were taken, the committee of the staff life assurance scheme, 1952-8 (ACC/3485/125) and the sealing committee, 1966-8 (ACC/3485/126). The collection also includes a few share records (ACC/3485/127-31), internal accounting and financial records (ACC/3485/132-43), records relating to the administration of the business (ACC/3485/144-9) and records relating to property (ACC/3485/150-60).

Records of the The Empire Stone Works, consisting of rolled plans, 1950-1990, from the Drawing Office at Narborough. Among the buildings with which the company was involved are: Battersea Park Pagoda, British Museum, Ford Factory Dagenham, Bank of England, Haberdasher's Hall, Westminster Abbey, Royal Ballet School, Royal Free Hospital and Kingston Power Station.

Records of William Edward Brooks, architect, 1887-1981, consisting of documents relating to William Brooks' education and career, financial records including account books, and photographs and published descriptions of his architectural work. Also included are some personal papers belonging to William's father, Edward Brooks.

Records of Joshua Ashby and Sons, millers and corn merchants, comprising cash book of "H. Neave, Thornton Heath Round" for Ashby's, providing details of daily deliveries of flour, yeast, wheat, barley, oats, bran, pease etc., to customers in S. Norwood and Croydon districts, and money received, Mar 1905 - Jan 1906.

Records of British Vinegars Limited, 1747-1960. The earliest and greater bulk of the records concern Beaufoy and Company of South Lambeth which became part of British Vinegars Limited in 1932. These records include legal documents, papers relating to property, papers relating to vinegar production, staff records, trade correspondence and sales records, financial accounts, printed matter and photographs.

Records include histories, advertising material, newspaper cuttings, photographs, financial accounts, minutes.

Records of the British Tyre and Rubber Company, and associated merged or subsidiary companies, 1864-1978. This substantial collection consists mainly of statutory business records of associated companies with very little relating to production: meeting minutes of the board 1864-1937, directors minutes, 1868-1871, general meeting minutes, 1864-1918, shareholders committee minutes, 1875, debenture trustee minutes, 1887-97, 1901-02, finance and executive committee minutes 1864-1866; share ledgers, c 1917-38; balance sheets and accounts, 1920-1936; ledgers, c 1931-1934, private ledgers, 1934-61; journals, 1939-1942, private journals, 1934-1960; private cash books, 1926-62, petty cash books, 1938-8; cheque account books, 1933-8; bills receivable books, 1935-64; nominal accounts for Calcutta, 1889-1954, and Christchurch, 1920-44; and Durban private ledger, 1900-1922.

Records of Catesbys Limited, department store, 1908-1958. The records consist of registers of members and directors, annual returns and minutes. There are also private ledgers, many indexed; progress and stock books, as well as wage returns. There is a salaries book for Catesbys Contract and Export Ltd.

Records of the Commercial Gas Light and Coke Company, 1844-1949. The records include minutes of directors' meetings, correspondence, half-yearly reports of the company, newspaper cuttings and miscellaneous papers. Also notice of meeting of shareholders of Crystal Palace District Gas Company.

Records of the Crystal Palace District Gas Company, later called the South Suburban Gas Company, 1853-1949. The records include deeds of settlement, proprietors' and directors' meeting minutes and committee meeting minutes and a volume relating to a Parliamentary Bill, 1903.

Records of Cowtan and Sons Limited, decorators and upholsterers, 1881-1959. The records consist of ledgers and accounts rendered to customers. Unfortunately the early records from 1790 have disappeared. The gap in the series of accounts rendered between 1937 and 1945 is the result of war-time losses of records.

Records of the Equitable Gas Light and Coke Company, 1831-1949, including minutes of Director's meetings; minutes of shareholder meetings; minutes of Committee of Works; minutes of Committee of Accounts and General Purposes; minutes of the Conference of representatives from the Equitable, London and Chartered Gas Light Companies; deed of settlement; site plan of gasworks; legal case papers and press cuttings.

Records of the General Cemetery Company, Kensal Green, 1830-1930, including correspondence; papers relating to shares; financial accounts; bonds; grants, transfers and declarations of ownership of grave spaces; burial registers (1842-1850 only, other registers are held at Kensal Green Cemetery) and accounts of fees paid to incumbents of various parishes for persons removed from their parishes for interment in cemetery.

Records of J J Lane Limited, engineers, 1873-1957, including letter books, printed catalogues and brochures illustrating the company's products, Sales particulars for disposal of plant, machinery, stores and equipment on winding-up of company and article from journal "Laundry Record and Journal" giving brief history of company.

Records of the London Gas Light and Coke Company, 1833-1883, comprising Directors' meetings signed minutes; Shareholders' meetings signed minutes; Committee of Works, Estimates, Contracts and Buildings signed minutes; Committee of Finance signed minutes; and Committees of Works, Finance and Inspection, and General Board signed minutes.

Records of James Lock and Company including series of day books (1781-1969, with gaps) and order books (1805-1998, with gaps). There were always two order books in use at any one time, one in the shop and one in the office, and as a result the dates overlap in many volumes. There is also a series of rough order books, called waste books (1798-1819), and special order books series for ladies' hats, for hunting wear and foreign and export orders. There are product statistics for 20th century. Very few product drawings, or fabric samples are included (for samples for special orders 1995-1998 see B/LK/422).

All these series contain similar elements of information, namely the customer's name and address, description of hat ordered and the total cost.

The collection also contains financial records, including ledgers, cash books, customer accounts and bad debts which summarise outstanding payments due from customers; staff salaries (1927-1954) (B/LK/619) and R Lincoln's executors account (B/LK/254).

Records of New Bunhill Fields Burial Ground, Islington, including burial registers, 1831-1853, one containing an order book, 1841-1846, and registers recording fees 1824-1853

Records of the Proprietors of Battersea Bridge, 1771-1796. The two minute books record the earliest proceedings of the 15 proprietors of Battersea Bridge, and include a list of subscribers and copies of circular letters.

Record of the Peckham Building Investment Company comprising deed of settlement, 4 May 1846, for John Tricker Conquest of Finsbury Square and Henry England of New Cross, to form joint stock company 'The Peckham Building Investment Company'. The deed records the name and business of company, names of subscribers, and of directors and officers, duration of company and mode of dissolution; with signatures and addresses of shareholders, and note of number of shares held by each.

Records of Spalding and Hodge, stationers, 1781-1911; and subsidiary or merged companies including Busbridge and Hodge, papermakers and Suttaby and Company, booksellers. Also records of the Stationers' Book Society. The records include business agreements, legal documents relating to properties, wages books, cash books, stock books, bills, rules and regulations for staff, letters patent, brochures about Spalding and Hodge and their history, inventories, correspondence and price lists. Stationers' Book Society records comprise minutes, accounts, and an address by Thomas Spalding.

Records of Whiffen and Son Ltd, manufacturing chemists, 1752-1972, including history of the company; articles of partnership and other contracts and agreements; legal documents relating to property; correspondence; circulars; financial accounts; papers relating to shares and shareholders; stock records; newspaper cuttings; photographs; staff wages books and pensions papers; records relating to staff associations and sports clubs including minute books; reports on chemical manufacture, laboratory notebooks and chemical analyses; papers relating to sales; papers relating to imports and foreign suppliers; advertisements; registers of product labels; samples of packaging; rules, regulations and legislation regarding factories and safety measures; papers regarding the Second World War including war damage to factories and papers relating to staff on active duty.

Records relating to property owned by Powell, Warner and Crowther, stationers, including lease of 101 High Street, Whitechapel; assignment of the business and all stock and books from Powell to Warner and Crowther; assignment of lease of a warehouse in Commercial Street, Stepney, with schedule of deeds of the warehouse. 1871-1882.
