Giles , Carl , Prausnitz- , 1876-1963 , physician

Prausnitz studied in England 1905-1908 (his mother was English), and in 1933 emigrated to England from Germany, where he had been Professor of Hygiene and Bacteriology at Breslau. He became a general practitioner at Ventnor, Isle of Wight. In 1939 he became a British citizen and added his mother's maiden name to his own.
