Papers of the Sir Francis Avery Jones, 1934-1998, comprised of four main sections: Personal items, including memorabilia and photographs. Correspondence relating to Avery Jones' various areas of interest, including published letters. Publications and reviews, mostly written by Avery Jones but also including articles by other people which he gathered together throughout his career. Items relating to Societies and Institutions which Avery Jones was involved with in various capacities.

Unpublished lectures, articles and reports from Godber's time as Chief Medical Officer onwards form the bulk of this collection, but his wider career is represented by such papers as a draft of his 1944 'Hospital Survey of Sheffield and East Midlands Area' and published articles spanning over 50 years from 1942 to 1995. Although the collection does not include Godber's official papers from his various appointments or his personal papers, it nevertheless conveys a strong impression of his personality, energy and breadth of interests throughout his career. Godber's papers at the Ministry of Health and the Department of Health and Social Security were left almost entirely for his successors, to be transferred as appropriate to the Public Record Office.

Records of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists' Clinical Effectiveness Standards Board, 1998-2000, comprising minutes, agendas, papers and associated correspondence, 1998-2000.

The records of the King's College London Institute of Psychiatry Camberwell Register comprise record and index cards of psychiatric patients, data collection parameters and instruction literature, and related notes and correspondence, [1965-1985]. Half the collection in volume terms consists of record cards of patients containing personal information, dates and details of admission, diagnosis and treatment, with some background comments (boxes 1-31). These are arranged in a numerical sequence that correlates roughly to the date upon which a new patient entered the study. The vast majority of these date from the 1970s. An alphabetical index card system and index book are available to trace the names of individual patients (boxes 32-43). The remainder of the collection (boxes 44-74) comprises questionnaires of some psychiatric patients engaged in the study [1964-1985]; Umatic and VHS video tapes of interviews with psychiatric patients and sufferers of depression, with some interviews with triplet children, 1979-1992; copies of the death certificates of psychiatric patients in the study, [1975-1995]; notes, correspondence, user manuals and trial information relating to the collection of data in the project, including computer databases and user manuals of programs associated with the Register, [1964-1985]; yearly progress reports of the project, 1964-1968; census and population statistics of the Camberwell study area, including street names and indexes, [1964-1985]; data and published material on similar epidemiological studies, principally at Worcester and Cardiff, 1970-1985; secondary literature on the methodology of case registers, 1968-1981.

Papers of Norman Lace Corkill, c1939-1965 (mostly undated), consisting of a collection of articles by other authors used by Corkill in his work with particular reference to the geography and health of the Arabian area; articles and notes by Corkill concerning nutrition, diet, vitamin deficiency, and disorders and diseases caused by poor nutrition; detailed surveys and breakdown of nutritional content of the local diet and household expenditure on food; reports and documentation on WHO Project Iran, and the Aden Protectorate Health Service; detailed reports by Corkill on his examination of Prisoner of War camps in the Sudan, World War Two and a study of the Nuba community. Also includes correspondence and research relating to a study of folk medicine in Iran carried out in 1966 and nutrition surveys of Iran.

Papers of Major Greenwood, 1924-1950, comprise correspondence and papers relating to his work as Professor of Epidemiology and Vital Statistics and as Acting Dean of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine; speech on the work of the School and some miscellaneous letters.

Papers of Sir Shirley Foster Murphy, 1890s-1900s, comprise correspondence and both unpublished and published work in the fields of health and medicine and relate to his work as a medical officer. The collection notably comprises correspondence from Dr Ernest Pfeiffer, 1899-1901 (Murphy/01); handwritten extracts and notes from works concerning slaughterhouses and meat inspection, [1890s-1900s] (Murphy/02); manuscript titled 'Alcohol in relation to the Child and to National Health', [1890s-1900s] (Murphy/03); manuscript notes on topics including 'liberty and authority' and 'alcohol and poverty', [1890s-1900s] (Murphy/04); published paper concerning the sale to the public of tuberculous meat (British Congress on Tuberculosis for the Prevention of Consumption, by Shirley Murphy, Medical Officer of Health of the Administrative County of London), [1890s-1900s] (Murphy/05) and an address, perhaps given to his colleagues at County Council of London on the subject of food supplies, with reference to tuberculosis, [1890s-1900s] (Murphy/06).

Papers of the Pellagra Investigation Committee, 1910, relate to the establishment of the Committee and resourcing of funds for the facilitation of Dr Louis Sambon's research trip to Italy. The collection notably comprises correspondence between Pietro J Michelli, Secretary of the Seamen's Hospital Society and James Cantlie and other members of the Committee regarding donations and funds, 1910; 'Pellagra Investigation Committee', article including a list of committee members, outlining the intentions of the committee, 1910; printed list of donations received, 1910, and a handwritten list of funds received in cash, guarantees made and funds received from the Colonial Office, [1910].

Papers of Sir Graham Selby Wilson, 1922-1931, comprise a collection of reprints used to aid Wilson's research.
