Record of the Court of Common Pleas, comprising a brief for the defendants in an action for impounding and ill-treating cattle coming to Smithfield Market. The case arose from numerous complaints about the nuisance caused in Smithfield and other streets in the city by cattle dealers driving cattle and sheep on Sunday evenings into Smithfield in order to get the best stands and pens.

The Bindloss family papers consist almost entirely of family letters and memorabilia of Reverend Edward Bindloss, his wife Maria Mathilda Bindloss, and Arthur Henry Bindloss. These include many letters from Russia, but little concerning Edward Bindloss' work as an Anglican chaplain.

These family papers relate to trusts established by Henry Butterworth (d 1847) and bequests by his son, Henry (1786-1860).

Papers of Joseph Jackson Howard, antiquary, including sketches and rubbings of monuments in churches, especially St Helen Bishopsgate, copies of inscriptions, some original manuscripts, transcripts of monumental inscriptions, notes on the Barber Surgeons' Company, and notes on the aldermen, recorders and chamberlains of the City of London.

Papers of the Illidge family concerning private and family matters almost entirely, with little reference to business affairs. They include numerous deeds and records of family property in Brixton and in Dartford, Kent, and Rayleigh, Essex.

Research papers of Paul Jeffery, architectural historian. The churches researched are Wren churches of the City of London and Westminster. The research consists of notes from churchwardens accounts and vestry minutes and various other printed sources. The papers include correspondence, photographs, pamphlets and press cuttings.

Personal papers of Reverend W E F Greene, along with papers of his mother Ellen, and son Leslie Norman Freeman. They comprise certificates and licences, 1869-1925 (Ms 24145-6); accounts, 1895-6 (Ms 24207); and copy will 1894 (Ms 24208).

The records of Charles Henry Waterland Mander, solicitor, comprise cash accounts and ledgers.

Records of Moses Levy Newton, mostly papers relating to properties in the City of London and Westminster, with some mercantile business and private papers.

Papers of John Pridden, clergyman. The records comprise: notes on the history of St Bride Fleet Street [1800]; topographical collections relating to London and Middlesex [180-]-1825; transcripts of early 16th and late 17th century documents concerning St Paul's Cathedral, compiled 1785 and late 18th century; topographical collection relating to St Paul's Cathedral, 1779-1854; and correspondence with the Dean of St Paul's, 1795-1797.

Papers of the Pye family relating to bell-ringing, including records of performances; notices of peals rung; notebook of the number and weight of bells in towers; composition books; photographs; journals and publications; memoirs and order of service.

The records of Sir Buchanan Scott relate to his time as general manager of the Mexican Land and Colonization Company Ltd and comprise copy out-letters 1888-90, photographs of Ensenada, California, c 1889 and rock samples.

Historical research by Sir Frederick Tidbury-Beer, comprising biographical notes on City of London aldermen, 1850-1950; the City of London mayors, aldermen, sheriffs and Members of Parliament since 1850; and historical and topographical notes on Bishopsgate ward.

Records of the 49th (Post Office) Rifle Volunteers, later the 24th (Post Office) Rifle Volunteers, comprising: regimental orders, 1870-1871 (Ms 09408), and muster roll books, 1870-1909 (Ms 09409).

The Accepting Houses Committee did not keep minutes of its meetings until 1920 "owing to the secrecy of many of the matters dealt with" (Ms 29295/1). Business was mainly carried out by the executive committee (Ms 29295), although annual general meetings were held for a short time, from 1939 to 1944 (Ms 29294). A number of standing and sub-committees were set up subsequently. The earliest was the Technical or Experts sub-committee in 1940 (Ms 29298); other committees, concerning such matters as export finance and computers, were established in the 1970s (Mss 29298-305).

Apart from minutes and associated papers, the main series of records of the Committee comprise reports and accounts (Mss 29306-7), circulars (Mss 29308-9) and membership files (Ms 29310). Among the remaining records (Mss 29311-327) there are a number of files relating to the role and future of the Committee at various points in its existence, and discussions about the criteria for membership.

Records of the London Stock Exchange dating from 1798. IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING ACCESS: These records are stored at the Guildhall Library site rather than the LMA Clerkenwell site. Researchers wishing to access these records should do so at the Guildhall Library Rare Books table. The Library is open Monday to Saturday, 9:30 to 16:45. Researchers will need to have an Archives History Card or a Library Readers Card. An archivist will be available at Guildhall Library on Thursday mornings to answer any queries.

The manuscript archives of the Exchange are immediately available for research with the exception of the "Applications for Listing" (CLC/B/004/MS18000 and CLC/B/004/MS18000A) which are available by appointment only.

Records of the Anglo-Portuguese Bank Limited, including memorandum and articles of association; Board minutes; annual reports and accounts; correspondence; financial records; manager's files; some staff files; and communications with headquarters in Portugal.

The surviving archives of Anglo-Russian Cotton Factories Limited consist of board and general meetings minutes, and papers relating to the act of association and to dividends.

Minute books of the London Continental Fire Insurance Committee.

The surviving records of the Printers and Theatres Rating Committee (Southern Committee) are incomplete. They mostly concern the rating of individual risks. As a result, they contain much information about particular theatres, music halls, cinemas, film production studios, publishers, printers and allied trades (including papermakers), and associated processes and products. Some of the records are indexed by name and/or place. The whereabouts of the records of the Northern and Scottish Rating Committees is unknown.

Minute book of the Trading with the Enemy Joint Insurance Committee, 1939-1941.

Records of the Association of Investment Trusts, later the Association of Investment Trust Companies and then the Association of Investment Companies. The records comprise some constitutional documents, minutes of the various committees, annual reports and accounts and supporting papers, financial material, along with many files of correspondence on particular topics, as well as a large serie of files relating to members of the Association. These records are all held off-site and require 24 hours notice for access.

Records of the Baltic Exchange (1821-1994); the London Shipping Exchange (1892-1903), which was purchased by the Baltic Exchange; and the Jerusalem Coffee House (1757-1833), which was purchased by the London Shipping Exchange. The records include minutes, agendas, financial accounts, letter books and correspondence, administrative papers, membership records, shipping papers and records of the Airbrokers Association, 1947-1976 and the Institute of Shipbrokers, 1917-1987.

Records of the Jerusalem Coffee House, later the Jerusalem Shipping Exchange, including registers and lists of sailings and shippings, including some East India Company shipping; log of the voyage of the ship 'Walmer Castle' from London to Penang, Malaysia; agreements; and financial accounts.
