The records of Guy's Hospital document the administration of the Hospital from its foundation in 1725, but also include personal papers of the founder, Thomas Guy, and items relating to endowments and estates some of which predate the foundation of the Hospital. The general administrative records include minutes, reports, correspondence and architectural plans and there are also extensive records relating to patients' administration. In addition, there are staff records, finance, library and museum items, photographs and some more miscellaneous series, such as documents used by H.C. Cameron for his book Mr Guy's Hospital 1726-1948 and the records of the chaplain.

This archive contains the records of Guy's Hospital Group as it was in 1948, when it was formed. It does not include the New Cross and Saint Olave's Hospitals, which were added to the Group in 1965. However, it does contain the records of the Hospital for Diseases of the Skin, which was never part of the Guy's Hospital Group.

There are both administrative and clinical records for the Group in this collection, including minutes, accounts and correspondence, in addition to a large number of visual items such as photographs, library material and ephemera.
