Records of institutions in the Springfield Hospital Group, 1844-1990, comprising Battersea and Putney Hospital Management Group, Lambeth Hospital Management Group, Saint James Hospital, Springfield Hospital, South West Metropolitan Hospital Management Group, Weir Hospital and Wandsworth Hospital. The papers include committee minutes, annual reports, administrative files, staff records, registers of patients, financial records, visitor's books, plans and photographs.

Records of the Society relating to Manor House Hospital, Golders Green and associated sites of treatment including minutes of committees, matron's and surgeon's reports to the House Committee which include details on named patients and deaths (1920-1968) (H53/A/03/03) and comprehensive series of annual reports.

Also held are rules, circulars and subject files of the General Secretary (later the Chief Administrative Officer in 1980s and Chief Executive in the 1990s) on a wide range of subjects including membership, scope of treatment, staff, premises including Inverforth House and the Pergola and Ivy House, regional organisation, funds and royal visits. Also held are a presentation volume to Lord and Lady Hague with original artwork depicting the premises and a book of remembrance presented to the hospital after the Second World War (H53/B/11/001-002). Financial series (H53/C) include annual returns and cash books.

Records on patients treated at Manor House Hospital (H53/D) are incomplete. They comprise admission and discharge and operation registers (1933-1978), lists of members by firm (1931-1993) and bed statistics. The volumes do not provide detailed information on patients and their treatment.

Records of the Society's regional areas and districts (H53/E) consist mainly of extensive series of minutes held by regional and district secretaries across England, Scotland and Wales. The Northern Area records include subject files and financial records.

Printed material (H53/F) includes comprehensive series of press cuttings with indexes, publications, brochures, articles, histories and newsletters. There are souvenir brochures for openings of premises, royal visits and related events, and some artefacts including badges.

Also held are papers of A V Alexander, President of the Society (H53/H) including photographs, artwork, correspondence and history.

There are no surviving medical or patient records for this hospital.

The records of Benjamin Slowman, merchant, comprise an order book 1835-42; bought ledger, cash book and vouchers 1820-50; business correspondence 1823-51; and a release regarding the estate of Moses Lewvy, 1848.

Papers of Sir William Turner, textiles merchant and Lord Mayor of London. The bulk of the collection is dated 1604-1714 and includes business records; some personal financial accounts, including expenses of the mayoralty; and deeds for property in Yorkshire. Ms 5112 (account book, 1729-1752) and Ms 5113 (deed of appointment, 1654) were deposited with the archives of Sir William Turner but do not relate directly to him.

These account rolls relate to William Worsley's private and personal income and include not only the revenues of the deanery of St Paul's, but also those of his other ecclesiastical preferments and numerous other estates held privately by Worsley in London, Middlesex, Bedfordshire, Essex, Hertfordshire and Berkshire.

Papers of John Wright relating to his campaign to improve the water supply of the Grand Junction Waterworks Company. The records comprise: papers relating to the water supply in the Metropolis, 1719-1831; and letter of appeal concerning John Wright's efforts to improve the water supply, 1829.

Condition of a bond given by the treasurer of St Thomas's Hospital to "A. B." in recognition of his proposal to discover to the Governors a freehold estate called Elliot's Court in Little Old Bailey, which had been lost and withheld from them for 24 years.

Records of the London Stock Exchange dating from 1798. IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING ACCESS: These records are stored at the Guildhall Library site rather than the LMA Clerkenwell site. Researchers wishing to access these records should do so at the Guildhall Library Rare Books table. The Library is open Monday to Saturday, 9:30 to 16:45. The main records of the Fire Offices' Committee comprise minutes of general meetings, 1861-1979 (Ms 29452); sub-committee minute books, 1897-1978 (Ms 29454); circulars, 1873-1985 (Mss 29462-3); accounts, 1874-1973 (Mss 29464-73); a significant body of material relating to the administration of the tariffs, 1842-1983 (Mss 29476-84); and material relating to fire-testing and research, 1935-72 (Mss 29457-9). The general meetings minute books contain the minutes of the district committees and standing committees on tariffs (to ca. 1890), as well as minutes of the Glasgow Rate and Salvage Association and its predecessors (1861-1904) (see also CLC/B/017-14). The accounts concern not only the Fire Offices' Committee, but also associated organisations such as the London Wharf and Warehouse Committee, the Consequential Loss Committee and the Fire Offices' Committee (Foreign).
