Records of Peal and Company, bootmakers, 1811-1964. The collection consists of 660 items, 40 of which are administrative records such as account books and ledgers. The remaining 620 volumes are 'Feet Books' recording each order and usually containing an outline drawing of the customer's feet. Every book includes 150 orders and was given a running number. The earliest surviving book is no. 23 from the 1870s and the last is no. 1002 from shortly before the firm closed in 1965.

Records of the Manor of Harmondsworth, including court books; inclosure awards; court rolls and indexes; and some financial and insurance papers.

This collection contains two plans drawn by Samuel Robinson relating to Saint Dunstan and All Saints' Church, Stepney and West Ham Abbey, West Ham. Both give detailed depictions and descriptions of the buildings and landscape features in their immediate area.

The West Ham Abbey plan (LMA/4458/01/002) gives very detailed views and notes of garden furniture and planting schemes in the adjacent Spring Gardens. For example the plan refers to: 'a square piece fenc'd with reeds wherein cucumbers are nurished' and 'Beds of tulips, pinks and carnations, French marigolds and sweet williams and other flowers. There are several plots of cabbages and colewerts, carrots and parsnips among the trees'.

Records of the Victorian Society. The collection principally contains case files compiled by the Society's Buildings Sub-Committee and relating to individual buildings for which listed building consent or statutory listing was sought. Remaining items comprise lists of members and a small selection of early printed items about the Society and its activities.

The case-files provide contextual information regarding the discussions and decisions of the Victorian Society over individual buildings. They contain useful information for researching conservation and planning issues surrounding these buildings. Their primary value however is in recording the workings of the Society itself and the personalities and opinions of its members. With the records of English Heritage (also held at London Metropolitan Archives), local planning authorities, and other voluntary bodies (such as the Georgian Group, Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings, and the Twentieth Century Society), this collection could help compile a comprehensive study into building conservation in England and Wales in the second half of the 20th century generally.

The case-file series is incomplete (some files have been destroyed while others have been retained by the Society) and other principal records of the Society, such as minutes of the Council and of the Buildings Sub-Committee and issues of The Victorian magazine have not been deposited. The membership lists contain personal information about members and access to these files is restricted.

Although based in London, the Society acted in the interest of buildings throughout Great Britain. There are a few instances where buildings overseas where also drawn to the Society's attention. The Society was not solely concerned with the exterior of buildings. It attributed importance to interior decoration and furnishings, and to commemorative monuments and street furniture erected broadly within the Victorian and Edwardian periods.

The collection is rich in information about the Society. As well as recording the Society's cause celbres it also includes a large number of smaller Buildings and structures. It covers the Houses of Parliament and Tower Bridge at one end of the scale and street lamps in Cambridge and fonts in churches at the other.

Correspondence with Andrew Salkey, writer and broadcaster. Letters date from prior to Andrew Salkey leaving England to take up a professorship at Amherst College in North America. His continued involvement in the development of Bogle L'Ouverture was achieved through regular correspondence with Eric, Accabre and Jessica Huntley. He helped to create and maintain links to literary organisations and individuals in the States, the Caribbean and South America. The letters offer, advice, encouragement and information.

The series includes five dated and numbered files. Many of the letters are informal and friendly. Personal and current political issues of the day are commented on as are management, marketing and strategic planning for the development of Bogle-L'Ouverture.

Records of Crosse and Blackwell Limited, food manufacturers, 1830-2003. The records include business agreements; correspondence; published histories; financial records; papers relating to shareholders; papers relating to production including agreements, ledgers, notebooks, reports, and labels; price lists; papers relating to staff organisations and staff photographs; property records including inventories, leases and photographs; papers relating to advertising including newscuttings, publications, adverts, correspondence and photographs.

Also papers of subsidiary companies including British Vinegars Ltd, Elizabeth Lazenby Ltd, James Kellier and Sons and Allards Wharf Ltd.

The collection contains the administrative papers of the Barbican Arts Group Trust including policy documents; minutes of meetings; financial records; property records; and artists' details. In addition, the collection includes a range of visual material showing artists and their work as well as printed publicity material for exhibitions. The Trust's outreach work is represented through a number of school packs and booklets.

The collection contains photographs used to illustrate newspaper stories for the Hull Daily News about events in London. The photographs cover a range of subjects and have been organised thematically into 25 series, including: life in London during the Second World War and post-war reconstruction; transportation in London (including railways, roads, rivers and airports); churches; memorials and monuments; bridges; hotels; office buildings; foreign embassies; museums and art galleries; hospitals; sporting venues; markets; government buildings and theatres. There are also photographs showing particularly famous streets in London, photographs of palaces and royal residences in London, of the Tower of London, of Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column and photographs of the Palace of Westminster (including Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Hall).

Records of the Mendes da Costa family, including contracts, wills, certificates, extracts, letters, invoices, certificates, and one drawing document for Emanuel Mendes da Costa and his family. Of note are documents settling the accounts from Emanuel's brother David's involvement in the sale and distribution of bread and other provisions to British troops during King George's War in Flanders, 1743. The bulk of his business-related papers show many accounts in arrears.

Several family members were known by two given names, both a Jewish and a Christian alias. Names are recorded in this catalogue as described in the documents.

Records of the Smith and Nephew Plc Pension Scheme, comprising pension scheme explanatory booklets.

The Gulf UK Pension Scheme collection comprises explanatory booklets (1964-1989) and newsletters (1984-1990) issued by the Scheme, and explanatory booklets for the Stock Option Plan (1974; 1983).

The collection consists of reports (discussion papers, research papers, technical papers, working papers, briefing papers and reference manuals) produced by the Pensions Policy Institute between Sept 2002 and Mar 2010. Some reports are only available in an electronic format as PDFs (currently held on two CDs).

The series of reports have been arranged and numbered in the order they were published: if the reports had more than one part they listed under the same number and distinguished by a letter A or B. This numbering system has been used consistently across both formats.

The series does not include the Pensions Policy Institute's first report Retire at 72 (Feb 2002), the mid-project review of Shaping a stable pensions solution (Oct 2005) (paper 22) or the participant paper outlining case studies for the TUC's Pensions Champion training programme (Jul 2009) (paper 47).

The collection comprises primarily of the Raising Standards in Pensions Administration's secretary's papers, along with a copy of Dunnett Shaw's report on raising the standards of pension administration from 2001.

LMA/4662/SLV/08 Publicity and Media (1933-2003) covering programmes and menu cards from SLV events, publications including newsletters, histories of aspects of SLV and a series of photographs mainly portraits of past Governors, Chairs and Committees.

Records of Kol Chai Hatch End Jewish Community including minutes and administrative papers, finance, papers relating to the synagogue building, membership, services, religious education, events and visits; also a run of Koleinu, the Kol Chai magazine, other Kol Chai publications, printed material and photographs.

The collection includes minutes (with the exception of three volumes for 1837-1843, 1866-1884 and 1896-1905 which are noted as missing in the later minute books), rules and papers from the society including reference to insuring the society silver and stories from members.

The minutes are very detailed and provide an exception insight into the pawnbroking trade; shared stories reflect concerns of the time. There are accounts of losing money on pledges, bulgaries, fraud as well as discussions on the impact of legislation on the business and the state of the trade generally. References to the type of items being pawned also show the changing value of goods over the period of time.

The minutes cover both the First World War and the Second World War and show how the pawnbroking businesses were affected during these period of time, for example during the First World War it was recorded in October 1916 that one member raised the question of whether field glasses could be taken in pledge, in February 1919 a discussion was had on the effects of demobelisation and wages and in March of 1920 they discussion the issue of being offered firearms as a pledge items and how one member had recently sold to the Ministry of Munitions two army revolvers.

The Second World War saw meetings abandoned for a short time with members raising concerns about holding what could be deemed as a 'social gathering' in war time being recorded in the February of 1940 and in May 1941 there are detailed discussions between the members concerning the effect of fire, caused by air raids on jewellery and valuables in safes which was following the next month by discussions of the position of pawnbrokers regarding war damage insurance in respect of goods that they were holding on pledge. An entry from November 1941 shows the effect of not wrapping purchased goods when a member, Mr Norris remarked that the about of pilfering by the public in the sales shops had increased since the order prohibiting the use of paper for wrapping up goods sold to customers which meant that it was not easy to detect thieving as there was noting to show at a glance whether the article had been purchased or not.
