Papers of Sir John Franklin. They consist of a volume of bound letters written by Sir John Franklin between 1820 and 1845 to his niece Mary Anne Kay and to Lieutenant Edward Kendall, R.N., whom she later married. Several letters refer to Franklin's second overland expedition. His last letter was written in 1845 at the Whale Fish Islands. There are other letters relating to exploration and some Arctic material including prints and manuscript copies of the New Georgia Gazette of 1819.

The article was the published version of the Lady Jones Lecture delivered by Sir Thomas Fairbank at the University of Liverpool on 28 Feb 1929, when he was President of the British Orthopaedic Association.

MSS.8109-8112, 8114-8120 and 8122 relate to the history of antisepsis and the essay 'Antiseptics before Lister: a historico-medical survey', which was the Prize Essay in the History of Medicine, University of Glasgow, 1932/3. MSS.8236-8255 and 8968-8989 relate to The History and Lore of Cymric Medicine, a proposed Wellcome Historical Medical Museum study that was never published. Wellcome and Fraser-Harris died close to one another and the momentum of the project was lost.

Sketchbooks contain pencil drawings including people and animals and the collection also contains notebooks comprising notes on architecture used whilst studying at Kingston School of Art. The collection contains certificates awarded to Freeman and Mary Freeman (possibly her aunt) including Barbara's certificate for passing an examination in drawing, 1926; correspondence including a letter from Ernest Kyle, 1929 and a testimonial requested by Freeman discussing her achievements at Kingston School of Art.

Papers of Adml Thomas Francis Fremantle. They consist of three logs, 1793 to 1796, two signal notebooks, undated, two memoranda on naval discipline, 1806, and some printed material relating to the French and Spanish navies.

Papers of Cpt Stephen Grenville Fremantle. They consist of logs, 1828 to 1829, 1839 to 1841; letter and order books, 1839 to 1842, 1852 to 1857, and a private record of letters sent and received, 1847 to 1848. There is also a privately-printed statement in answer to the charges made against him as Captain of the JUNO.

Papers of Sir Edmund Robert Fremantle. They cover Fremantle's career well, especially the Maori and Ashanti war periods They include logs, 1849 and 1859, 1856 to 1857 and 1873 to 1881; letterbooks, 1862 to 1876, 1879 to 1880; personal letters written mainly between 1864 and 1866 and papers relating to his commands, 1889 to 1895. There is also a section which deals with his court martial for grounding the Eclipse in 1866.

Papers of Adml Sir Sydney Robert Fremantle. They consist of a memorandum on the war in the Aegean, 1916 to 1917, detailed minutes compiled while he held office as Deputy Chief of Naval Staff and other papers relating to this post. There are also collected essays and articles written by Fremantle, 1904 to 1919.

French Anti-Nazi leaflet, 1938, entitled 'Et Voici La Preuve', which disclaims the thesis that the Kristallnacht pogrom was a spontaneous, popular, outpouring of anger. The leaflet incorporates a facsimile of a document from the Kriminalpolizei, Vienna, headed 'Judenaktion' in which it is made obvious that Kristallnacht was organised from above.
