Minute book of the Association for Employment of the Destitute and Truant Poor. The minute book, A/EDT/1, appears to be the first of a series from the remainder of which it has been divorced. From the papers, A/EDT/3-5, addressed to or written by E.C. Bellamy, the Secretary of the Association, it seems that his resignation was accepted in January 1869, but that he did not return the volume (and possibly others) to the Association as requested.

Records of the Elizabeth Newcomen School, Southwark, including minutes of the Governors of the Schools; admission registers; papers concerning Mrs Newcomen's will and a subsequent legal case between the Wardens of St. Saviour's and her godson, Thomas Lant; and the administration of the property which forms the endowment of the charity.

Records of the Central Association of Bankers, a society promoting the interests of banks, comprising annual reports and accounts; minutes; circulars and reports.

Records of the Coal Factors' Society, beginning in 1761 and consisting of minutes, attendance books, letter books, rules and regulations, an account of market dues at the Coal Exchange, financial records including ledgers and cash books, factors' day and entry books, factors' and meters' postage books, an alphabetical list of ships giving gross and net tonnage, lists of named ships with total monthly cost to each factor, comparative lists of the highest prices of best house coals taken for each, contracts made with various persons for the supply of barges, beams, weights, a Tilbury signal code book, and newspaper cuttings. There are no records for the period 1790-1831.

The collection also includes a register of names, destinations and owners of ships, and weight of coal shipped from Newcastle, 1702-4, Ms 30689, which had been found amongst the archives of the Coal Factors' Society and Coal Meters' Committee. It predates both bodies and appears to have been collected as a curio.

London Cattle Food Trade Association records comprise minutes, accounts and a register of samples.

London Copra Association records comprising minutes of committees, general meetings and the board of appeal; and financial accounts.

London Port Area Grain Committee records comprise: minutes, 1939-1954 (Ms 23216); and minutes of the establishment sub-committee, 1951-1954 (Ms 23217).

National Association of United Kingdom Oil and Oilseed Brokers records comprise: general meetings minutes, 1920-1927 (Ms 23237); executive committee minutes, 1920-1926 (Ms 23238); and Hull area members minutes, 1939-1954 (Ms 23239).

National Federation of Corn Trade Associations records comprise: constitution and bye-laws, 1918 (Ms 23208); minutes and notes for meetings, 1918-1958 (Ms 23209-12); and accounts, 1955-1972 (Ms 23213-14).

Records of the Metropolitan District Nursing Association, formerly the Metropolitan Nursing Association for Providing Nurses for the Sick Poor. The records comprise: minutes and annual reports, 1873-1974 (Ms 14618-24); correspondence and reports, 1876-1974 (Ms 14625-7); agreements 1917-38 (Ms 14628-31, 14811-12); financial records, 1924-74 (Ms 14632-6, 14891-3); and staff records, 1875-1974 (Ms 14637-51). They were catalogued by members of Guildhall Library staff in 1973-4. The whereabouts of any further records is unknown.

Records of the Society of Royal Cumberland Youths, bell-ringing society, comprising: name books, 1747-1999 (Ms 21658, 33995); peal books, 1748-1989 (Ms 21659, 34393); minutes, 1887-1989 (Ms 33996), rules, 1931 (Ms 33997); and notebook of ringing methods, [1924-35?] (Ms 33998). They were catalogued by members of Guildhall Library staff between 1986 and 2006.

Some of the records were microfilmed in 1985 and Mss 21658-9 are positive copy microfilms deposited in the Library on indefinite loan by the Society which has retained the master negatives. The originals of Ms 21658 and Ms 21569/1 were deposited on 21 July 2003 (USE OF MICROFILM COMPULSORY), but the Society retains the original manuscript of Ms 21659/2. Permission to take reproductions from the films or to publish extracts from the records should be sought from the Society (enquire at the information desk for contact details).

Chelsea Physic Garden records comprise minutes 1899-1936 and cash books 1903-53 (Mss 10899-900). People's Palace Theatre records comprise a cash book 1950-53 (Ms 10903).

The collection was previously catalogued as the 'Irish Relief Fund' until 2007, when it was renamed 'The London Committee for the Relief of the Distressed Irish' following a reassessment of its contents.
