Papers of Elsie Maria Mansbridge [1937-1940] contain notebooks and textbooks from Mansbridge's studies at Queen Elizabeth College; specifically two leather bound note books printed with 'King's College of H.&S.S.' containing physiology notes, graphs and diagrams taken by Hedin [1936-1940]; one leather bound notebook labelled 'household arts and laundry, volumetric analysis, first year degree' [1937]; one large purple bound notebook labelled 'E.Hedin 2nd year degree gravimetric analysis' [1938]; one large green notebook engraved 'sectional book' and labelled 'Hedin Physics KCHSS Group B' containing notes and diagrams. The collection also contains first, second and fourth year exam papers, 1937-1940 and books concerning household studies and chemistry, many of which were written by members of staff from King's College London.

Records of the Mansion House Justice Room, comprising charge books.

Papers relating to the Mansion House Justice Room, including records of cases brought before the Mayor, 1624-1990; administrative records; regulations and duties of the clerks and officers of the court, evidence produced at trials, rotas of attendance of justices, orders from the court of aldermen and other miscellaneous historical material.

The collection comprises case notes of patients in Amoy and Hong Kong, correspondence, including a typed copy of one to Sir David Bruce (1855-1931) and some miscellaneous papers; the correspondence includes some letters neither to nor from Manson but kept by him, including one from David Livingstone (1813-1873) to his family. Particularly noteworthy is MS.6133, typescript copies of letters from Ronald Ross to Manson written during the former's period of malaria research in India (1897-1899).

Papers of Sir Philip Henry Manson-Bahr, 1925-1966, comprise correspondence relating to the 17th edition of Manson's Tropical Diseases, an important textbook on the subject, with Charles Wilcocks, President of Royal Society of Tropical Hygiene and Medicine, and relating to various matters including his retirement, the Manson lecture, the memorial to Sir Patrick Manson in Aberdeenshire; personal file including information on his work at the School and retirement and a copy of the publication The story of malaria: the drama and actors.

Papers of Sir Philip Manson-Bahr, 1959, including 'Whole original handwritten manuscript of 'The Story of Filaria''. This is the original text of 'The Story of Filaria bancrofti: A Critical review' published in Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 1959, 62, pp53-61, 85-94, 106-117, 138-145, 160-173. This was divided up into five parts: I Early history; II Metamorphosis of W bancrofti, in the mosquito and filarial periodicity; III Advances in the 20th century; IV Mosquito intermediaries of W bancrofti; V Description of W bancrofti and pathology of filiariasis. Also watercolours illustrations of parasites, etc; photographs and charts re amoebiasis.

Includes material on United States politicians (including Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Grover Cleveland, W. J. Bryan, William McKinley, John Sherman, Samuel J. Tilden, A.S. Hewitt, D. B. Collection of medical receipts and remedies with several indexes. On p. 6 of Vol. I is the date 1726, but there are additions by other hands, one of which on p. 528 of Vol. II is dated 1784. In Vol. II, paginated 511-514, is a printed 'Propriétez de l'élixir de M. Garrus médecin', probably contemporary with the MS.

Production books of an English manufacturing apothecary or chemist, 1741-1795, recording batches of compound medicines produced, with the cost of each ingredient and overall manufacturing costs. Internal evidence (including a list of suppliers of simples, mainly in the London area, on the rear paste-down of MS. 5941) suggests that the volumes were compiled in London.

Fragments of mainly medieval and early modern manuscripts, primarily leaves from liturgical texts including missals, breviaries, psalters, bibles and biblical commentaries, but also including fragments of popular medieval textbooks including the Codex Justinianus and Graecismus . Also includes fragments of medieval music including noted missals, antiphonaries, graduals and noted breviaries. The music section includes fragments from two incunabula.

This collection comprises writings by Vanessa Bell, including manuscripts written for the Memoir Club, and correspondence from the Bell family and others with Duncan Grant.

Primarily comprises of botanical specimens in the form of pressed flowers and plants accompanied by manuscript descriptions giving the date and location at which the specimen was collected, with biblical, historical and personal context sometimes provided. References are made to 'quarantine quarters' in Malta, and going 'on shore with our guns' in Egypt, indicating that the author may have been working for the Royal Navy.

Large diverse series of papers intended to encompass all collections of documents which were not generated by the organization, but which were donated, purchased or otherwise acquired from outside sources. The series therefore contains all manner of papers by, about, or belonging to Fellows of the Royal Society. The subject matter is as diverse as the interests of the Fellows, and covers all branches of the sciences, including some non-scientific material. Generally, the Manuscripts are Western in origin. Also includes some records generated by the Society itself but added to the collection when considered unsuitable for existing categories.

Regretting that he could not personally deliver the enclosed letter [missing] from Lord Stafford [afterwards 2nd Duke of Sutherland] to 'your lordship'; stating that 'due attention shall be paid to the fulfilment of its contents ...'.

Outgoing letter book of Thomas March, merchant trading with Turkey. This is a photocopy made in 1968; the original letter-book was in the possession of Squire de Lisle in 1968. Contains copies of letters concerning general financial matters and his estates at Garendon, Leicestershire.

Volumes of the wreck register, Marine Department of the Board of Trade, 1855 to 1898, giving the names and details of wrecks of British vessels reported to the Marine Department. The information includes the name of the vessel, its official number, port of registry, port number and year of registration, tonnage, name of managing owner, master, date and place of wreck, cause and the number of lives lost. Printed reports clipped from shipping newspapers, as well as manuscript reports from the Registrar General of Shipping and Seamen are often included as well as references to Lloyd's List , Mitchell's Maritime Register and Board of Trade correspondence (see MT/9 at the Public Record Office).

Records of the Marine Insurance Company. Although some records date from the 1930s, most relate primarily to the 1950s and 1960s. They include: Head Office Books, 1957 to 1968, containing registers of debits against policies, with some details of ships, cargoes and voyages; hull closings, 1957 to 1964; cargo closings, 1957 to 1964; building and port risks, 1937 to 1960; book and proof sheets, 1957 to 1968, summarizing business and premiums paid; declarations and certificates, 1957 to 1970, containing details of cargoes sent; premiums and policies, 1932 to 1970; treaties relating to reinsurance, 1957 to 1967; reinsurance agreements, 1950 to 1969; reinsurance closures and recoveries, 1958 to 1969; records of client companies, 1945 to 1966; claims records, 1933 to 1969; salvage records, 1952 to 1966. Papers of the Marine Society. They consist of: minutes, registers and accounts of the Marine Society, 1756 to 1978, and records of organizations absorbed by the Society, 1919 to 1977. The minutes include those of the General and Extraordinary Court of the Marine Society, 1777 to 1959, with indices 1777 to 1825; those of the Committee of Management, 1756 to 1975, with, from 1774 to 1949, an account of the Annual General Meeting; and indices, 1774 to 1907, 1933 to 1948; minutes of Sub-Committees, 1903 to 1961 and minutes of Routine Grants, 1955 to 1964.
