The Elephant Vanishes Collection shows people’s lives, homes and communities in and around the Elephant & Castle at a rapid time of change and expansion (2004–2018) in Southwark, south London. The three most dominant themes of heritage are the histories of people, community and buildings.

Projects include; Paul Reas ‘From a Distance’ (commissioned by UAL Photography and the Archive Research Centre, 2012) and material published by UAL in the books ‘Community’ (2008), ‘Home’ (2008) and ‘Economy’ (2012). Also included is documentation for the UAL PARC’s own collaborations and commissions on the Elephant & Castle including; workshops, study days, interventions, publications and film made with a host of practitioners (e.g., The People’s Bureau, Tate Modern and Southwark Council).

Records of 'The Diplomate' Editorial Board, 1992-1998, comprising the minute book of the Board (1992-1998); minutes and papers (1992-1998); contributors' agreements and correspondence (1993-1998); papers of a study and questionnaire regarding 'The Diplomate' from 1998. The minute book and some of the loose agenda papers cover four planning meetings (1992-1994) prior to the first issue of 'The Diplomate' in March 1994. The last minutes dated April 1998 show no recognition of the fact that 'The Diplomate' was to be imminently disbanded.

The Dave O'Reilly Experiential Learning Archive is a collection of materials relating to the history and development of experiential learning in the international community. Its contents include papers given by Ed Rosen, [1970]-1996, including material relating to the International Conferences on Experiential Learning (ICEL), 1987-1996, including texts of papers, abstracts, programmes and publicity material; papers relating to the organisation of the first ICEL, held in London in 1987, which Rosen was involved in organising, inlcuding minutes of the Steering Group and correspondence with participants; collected books, pamphlets and other printed material related to experiential learning.

The Children's Society Archive comprises the records created and managed by The Children's Society (titled The Waifs and Strays Society from 1881 to 1946). The majority of the collections date from the organisation's founding in 1881.

The Archive collections comprise: management and administration records; financial records; fundraising, public relations and supporter relation records; social work records including documents created by the residential care homes and social work projects, and records relating to children and young people; property management records; and records relating to staff. This includes a large quantity of visual material in the form of photographs and publicity material, as well as some audio-visual material.

The Archive has a rich collection of early building, financial and library records together with unbroken sequences of committee minutes, annual reports and membership records from foundation to present day. As well as information about the formation and development of the Club and the Club building, the Archive gives an insight into the election of Members; Members' experiences of dining in the Club; staff and their relationship with the Athenaeum; how major changes to the Club came about; and how events outside the Athenaeum have affected the Club. There are records relating to the celebration of Royal events and the viewing of Royal processions from the Club. Records for other special events, such as the Order of Merit Dinner held in 1902, have also been kept. Deserving of special mention is the collection of letters from staff serving in the First World War.

Among the building records are Decimus Burton's original drawings showing designs for the interior of the Club. There are also later architectural drawings by Decimus Burton, Charles Barry and T E Collcutt. The Archive holds inventories dating back to 1830.

The Herbert Spencer papers, which are owned by the Club, are on deposit with the University of London at Senate House Library, where they may be consulted by scholars.

This collection contains mostly personal and property papers of Silas Thatcher, carpenter, and his son Albert George Thatcher, teacher, as well as general family papers and photographs.

This collection contains Betacam cassettes of interviews and transcripts of interviews with leading political figures and members of the public from Margaret Thatcher's Premiership, 1979-1990. The subject matter ranges from issues of social history during the 1980s to ideological commentary on the nature of Thatcherism. The interviews also cover the impact of Thatcherism after Mrs Thatcher's departure from office.

Papers, 1788-1949 and undated, of Vendla Thane, comprising personal papers, 1890, 1910-1949 and undated, such as references, 1910-1911, 1933-1934, passport, 1923, curriculum vitae, 1923, degree certificates, 1927, a few miscellaneous items of correspondence, medical material, photographs, 1888, 1910s-1940s and undated, covering the years of her youth with her parents, her school career, and various Thane relatives, and miscellaneous printed material; genealogical notes on the Klingbergs of Stockholm (descended from the Vasas, the old Swedish royal family), 1788-1902 and undated, possibly written by Jenny, Lady Thane, and including documents about C G Thrström, 1788-1809, papers relating to the engagement and marriage of George Thane and Jenny Klingberg, 1883-1884, and memorabilia relating to Jenny Lind and her family, possibly collected by Lady Thane, and including a manuscript of 'Jenny Lind' by Lady Thane. 'When I said that I could do no more for you for the present I meant it literally: I never once said it as a simple excuse... A collection of 80 letters and 14 poems, purporting to be written by William Makepeace Thackeray (60 items); Thomas Hood (32 items) and Horatio Nelson (2 items), [1801-1861]. Most items are undated.

Papers of Anne Isabella Thackeray née Richie, [1863-1893], comprise four letters and one postcard to Mrs Jackson, Isabella [?Cole], Mrs James, Mrs Hugh Smith, Mrs Westlake. Items from both before and after Anne's marriage to Richmond T W Ritchie (1877) are included; the letters are dated with days of the week or dates and months, but the year is never given.

Papers, c1680-c1770, of four successive vicars of Tewkesbury, comprising sermons, commonplace books, religious commentaries on text, theological expositions, essays, and miscellaneous religious writings. Many of the volumes contain only sermons, by John Matthews. Although Henry Jones (senior) is included in the dedication, none of the writings can be directly attributed to him.

Records of J Lyons and Company Limited and Lyons Tetley Limited, food manufacturers and caterers, W H and F J Horniman and Company Limited and Joseph Tetley and Company, tea merchants, 1849-1978.

This collection contains records relating to all three companies (Horniman, Lyons and Tetley) when they were trading as separate businesses and when they were united under various incarnations of the one "Lyons" name. (They include references to other companies such as Symbol biscuits which Lyons took over in 1944)

However, despite the fact that some corporate records such as minutes have been retained by the Tetley Group Limited the majority of this collection is in fact composed of records relating to the Lyons company (which is necessarily linked with the former due to the fact it was a major competitor for years before taking it over in 1973).

Marketing and publicity aspects are the most heavily represented. As such this is a visually appealing collection and of particular note are the photograph albums and volumes of artwork, product labels and advertisments which are a testiment to the impact tea drinking has had on British society and its way of life.
