Archives of the Corporation of Foreign Bondholders, consisting mainly of a series of correspondence files. Each series has a number and each item within the file has a running number. Within the files, cross references have sometimes been made to particular items in a different series, which can be identified by the unique number. The numbering system reveals that many of the earlier files from the series have been lost. The whereabouts of these earlier files are not known.

The main series of correspondence for each subject is referred to as "official correspondence". Often this main correspondence series was later divided into separate files, such as files for correspondence with bondholders or relating to statistics. The correspondence files can also contain copies of agreements, press releases and other related items.

Records of the Corporation of Insurance Brokers, comprising constitutional documents, minutes, annual reports and accounts, financial material, membership records and other administrative papers.

Photocopies and microfilm copies of the correspondence of Philip and Bartholomew Corsini, Florentine merchants in London, 1568-1637. Also letters addressed chiefly to Francesco Venturini, merchant and banker, and his partner and successors, in Leghorn [Livorno}, 1663-1708, and to Angiolini and Frangini, merchants, and others, in Florence, 1701-1742.

Archives of the Madeira wine merchants Cossart, Gordon and Company. They relate both to its domestic business in Madeira and to its international operations, including its relations with customers and agents in the British Isles, continental Europe, the United States, the West Indies and (from c 1780) India and the Far East.

The documents are chiefly unbound business papers (in bundles, some original) and mostly dated between 1754 and 1898, together with a few family papers from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and photocopies of items removed for sale in the late 20th century.

Records of Daniel Desbois and Sons, watch and clockmakers, comprising a series of ledgers and a series of day books.

This archive relates mainly to the management of the coffee, coconut and cinnamon estates of A. S. Daniell and his son S. W. Daniell in Ceylon [now Sri Lanka]. The estates were called Gomera Tennai, New Gomera, Olooambelam, Imbulgaswaddie and Katooloya Tennei. The archive consists mainly of returns and reports from the local managers, Darley Butler and Company of Colombo, Ceylon, and of correspondence, accounts and legal papers. It also includes some family papers, comprising copies of wills and marriage settlements, accounts, bills and receipts, and a letter. Additional records of Daniell and Company, of separate provenance, are catalogued as Mss 11464-11465a.

Papers of Davison, Newman and Company, grocers and importers of West-Indian produce, comprising mostly accounts, correspondence, legal papers and papers relating to land in Jamaica.

Records of chartered accountants Reads and Company, entirely comprising financial records, including private and expense ledgers, 1924-69 (Ms 29901), clients ledgers, 1929-85 (Ms 29902) and salaries books, 1918-45 (Mss 29913-14). The earliest record is a dividend book, relating to the debts of businesses in liquidation and bankrupts, which dates from 1905 until 1954 (Ms 29910). Most of these records are indexed.

Letter books of the Dunaburg and Witepsk Railway Company, later known as the Dvinsk and Vitebsk Railway Company Limited.

Records of E Dent and Company Limited, clock and watch makers. The archives in this collection are the surviving business records, covering mainly the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. They are primarily the records of the Strand and Royal Exchange shops - only Ms 18026 and 23823-4 relating to M. F. Dent, 1856-1920, appear to have survived.

The records comprise: minutes 1834-1951, and indexes 1830-89 (Ms 38646-52; financial records, 1831-1972 (Ms 38653-62); policy records, 1803-1976 (Ms 38663-76); correspondence, 1833-61 (Ms 38677); and policy forms and other operational records, [1870]-1931 (Ms 38678-85).

A note at the front of the policy registers states that up to 1891 (policy number 13787), details of policies were entered in five books: policy ledgers; dockets (Ms 38667); ticket books; registers of notices of assignment (Ms 38668); and policy loan ledgers.

In 1908, new policy registers were compiled for all the policies up to number 13787 which were still in force (Ms 38664). These new registers contain all the information for each policy on a single page.

The rentals are generally very detailed, giving the names of the landlords of the fee farm rents and of successive tenants (ie owners) and occupiers of each property, together with a description of the property, its reference number and the amount of rent payable.

Record of proceedings at the Queen's Bench in the case of Joseph Berkowitz v Alexander Bresler, 1843. Bresler owed Berkowitz two sums of £100 and had promised to repay on demand. The verdict of the jury is noted - the verdict was for the plaintiff and Bresler had to pay damages and costs.
