Fritz Goldschmidt's diaries and eyewitness testimony collection comprises diaries, 1933-1939 (617/1) and a typescript personal account entitled 'Mein Leben in Deutschland vor und nach dem 30 Januar 1933', undated (617/2).

Papers, 1929-1988, containing articles relating to law by Graveson, correspondence with academic institutions and publishers concerning Graveson's articles, reviews by Graveson of others' work, texts of lectures and addresses given by Graveson, contributions to various law committees and law conferences, Graveson's notes taken as a law student, and papers of the Commonwealth-American Legal Studies course, 1959-1965. Printed material, 1923-1977, including books and articles by Graveson, and law reviews, journals and periodicals collected by him, many relating to legal education. Theses, 1935-[1957], containing various drafts and manuscripts of Graveson's theses, including chapters written by Graveson for A century of family law (1857-1957) with Francis Roger Crane (Sweet & Maxwell, London, 1957).

Records of the Holford family, lawyers. Although the records relate to litigation in Chancery, they concern both the Holfords' professional activities as practising lawyers, and their private litigation as substantial landowners in Gloucestershire and Somerset and in connection with large sums of money which they placed out at interest.

The collection includes records relating to Sir Richard Holford's manor of Southover and Nyland near Wells in Somerset, 1667-1717 (Ms 15588). The division between these two professional and private fields of activity is indistinct, particularly in view of the known speculative practices of masters in Chancery with the funds of the suitors of the court.

Furthermore, a number of the papers of Sir Thomas Estcourt (fl 1660-80) appear to have become incorporated into the archive, probably having been transferred to Sir Richard Holford on Estcourt's retirement or death.

List of the expenses incurred over a number of weeks by J Brown whilst taking affidavits and oaths, presented as an account to Messrs Watson & Delavel, totalling £57 10s. 9d. The list is undated, and pasted to a backing sheet (now separated from the document) watermarked 1800. The list begins 'To my expenses with George Simpson, John Adams... and drinking [with] them warmly before I could get them prevailed on all night and next day to make affidavits...'.

A collection of letters, printed circulars, etc, mainly addressed to William Blackwood, of Messrs Stuart and Blackwood, Peebles, Scotland, 1859-1901. The topics covered reflect the firm's business activities: requests for legal advice or legal action; requests to act as agents or trustees; and legal advice or legal action on insurance, assurance and debts. A signficant proportion of the letters concern the Symington extension of the Caledonian Railway Company (1861).
