Alphabeta litterae, caracteres et habitus variorum populorum, besides the alphabets, there are numerous traced copies of illustrations-a few in colour-from travel books, etc of the 16th to the early 19th centuries, depicting costumes, ceremonies, occupations, etc. The fourth volume, uniformly bound, is lettered on the spine: 'Salutatio angelica. Symbolum Apostolorum Nicenum S. Athanasii. Decalogus. Praecepta Ecclesiae. Te Deum laudamus. Signum S. Crucis. Orationis Dominicae. Fragmenta polyglotta'. Probably compiled in France: the latest entry is dated 1840.

Papers of Geoffrey Bullough, [1957-1975] contain typescript proofs of publications edited by Bullough. The collection contains annotated galley proofs from Bullough's Narrative and dramatic sources of Shakespeare (Columbia U.P, 1957 and later editions), notably including two copies of The Tradegie of Antonie by Robert Garnier, translated by Mary Herbert (1595) and two copies of The Troublesome raigne of King John (anonymous, 1591); carbon copy of The Taming of the Shrew [edited 1957-1975], which includes pencil annotation 'check this with original text'; annotated photocopy of Rosalynde. Euphues Golden Legacie by Thomas Lodge, (1592) [edited 1957-1975], perhaps suggesting that Bullough intended to edit this work; University of London BA examination paper for internal and external students in English, 1974 and University of London BA general examination paper for external students in Middle English 1300-1525, 1974.

Papers, c1894-1942, of Raymond Wilson Chambers, including papers on all Chambers' major published works, and on his unpublished work with J H G Grattan on the Piers Plowman A-text. There is also a good deal of correspondence with friends, students and fellow scholars. Extensive family correspondence includes letters written home by Chambers when he was a student at UCL, and wartime letters from France and Belgium in 1916-1917. Also includes a small but valuable collection concerned with the study of Sir Thomas More.

Notes on the placenames of medieval London, by Marc Fitch, arranged from Fitch's drafts by Dr Jessica Freeman. Readers should be aware, however, that these notes, although written with a view to eventual publication, were preliminary. Specialist advisors invited to comment at the time of compilation expressed reservations about the range and depth of documentary coverage.

Two typescript signed letters of 18 and 20 Apr 1957, from Dr Richard Flatter to Dr John Henry Pyle Pafford, then Librarian of the Goldsmith's Library, in reply to a letter of his of 12 Apr 1957 (carbon copy attached), all on the subject of the authorship of Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale. With Flatter's first letter he sent a typescript of 'Some remarks on the text of The Winter's Tale', written by himself in 1941, while in an internment camp in Australia; with his second letter he sent his contemporary 'miscellaneous observations' on the same play.

Most of the notes are not in Lewis's hand. They are draft footnotes and suggestions for a preface for an illustrated edition of Juvenal, apparently produced by Lewis's students, though not published. There are other notes on classical archaeology and philology, and also notes on the Turkish language.

The collection contains correspondence that discusses social visits, works of a literary nature, invitational offers to engagements, provision of books for book sale organised by Mrs Alys Russell. The collection also includes extensive communication from Beatrice Harraden to Daisy Solomon and various autograph signatures.
