Signed by the scribe, Nicholas Pfaldorffer (f 106v).The guards in the centre of each quire consist of strips cut from a 13th-century manuscript. Folio 188r has a 16th-century house charm, consisting of words taken from the Antiphon of St Agatha.

Manuscript poem, 17th century, 'Himmelfahrt Der Ordensleute' (ascension of orders), in rhyming couplets. Folio 1r bears an inscription dated 1660, describing the text as a humorous poem on the meeting of the Roman Catholics, Jesuits, monks, etc, with the apostle Peter at the celestial gates, probably unpublished. On the last leaf (f 5v) a copper engraving is pasted, depicting the Rhine and Main from Cologne to Würzburg, and on the water boats full of Jesuits, apparently fleeing. A single Jesuit toils along the river bank with his sack full of treasures belonging to the Roman Catholic Church, which are being lost en route.

Manuscript volume, late 15th century: Sammelhandschrift, a collection of miscellaneous texts, some dated 1491, 1493, 1496, and including a Carthusian calendar, sermons, religious poems, prayers, and other texts. With some 16th-century text and annotations.

Gebetbuch (Book of Prayers), c1521, including prayers to the Virgin (one in verse) and to St Catherine. Preceded by a calendar, including tables for the Golden Number and a table of signs of the zodiac.

Manuscript volume, 1694: Rechenbuch. An arithmetic book containing problems, including calculations for finding the date of Judgement Day, the Golden Number, etc, together with astrological information. Some of the problems are set out in verse.

Manuscript volume, 17th century, 'Das Crocodil. Ein Schauspiel' (the Comedy of the Crocodile).

Anthology of religious poems, 17th century, including penitential prayers and verse meditations on the joys of the next world. Following an introduction (ff 1r-6v), the text from folio 7r is in verse. With marginal references to passages in the Bible, written in the authoress' own hand, throughout the text. Her identity is not revealed, except that her Christian name was Doroteha, and, given references in the introduction to her grandchildren and other relations, she probably wrote the book in later life. With the name Jacobs Himmelsleiter inside the front cover.

The vellum in which the volume is bound bears on the outside front cover traces of 13th-century text, with the heading ET VIGILIA.

Manuscript volume, 15th century, containing a German translation of Guido Delle Colonne, 'Historia Troiana and Alexander Der Grosse' (history of Troy and Alexander the Great, ff 1r-97v and 98r-154v respectively). The binding bears on the back: Romances. M.S.

The binding includes strips of parchment from manuscripts of the 13th century and 1320.

Records of the Shakespeare Association, 1914-1955, consisting of minute books, annual reports, membership lists, cash book, correspondence regarding publications and subscriptions, other correspondence and press cuttings.

The collection contains correspondence, diaries, travel journals, accounts, library catalogues and commonplace books of the Kenrick, Reid, Rogers and Sharpe families, which all help to complete the picture of the four related families. Ent's papers, c.1641-1685, consist of his Apologia pro Circuitione Sanguinis..., in his hand, thought to be a revision prepared for the second edition of the work, c.1641-1685. The volume also includes the texts of some of Ent's speeches, such as his presidential addresses at the College, 1670-1674, and 1676, and contains some accounts entered by Peter Ent, 1671-1674, who was in possession of the volume for a time; Ent's anatomical lectures, delivered at the College 13-15 April 1665, in his hand, 1665.
