William Lowder graduated doctor of medicine, Aberdeen, 1775; licentiate of the College of Physicians, 1786; practised midwifery; lectured at Guy's Hospital and at the anatomy theatre he and John Haighton ran in St. Saviour's churchyard, Southwark, died, 1801.

Purchased 1915 (acc.36490), 1916 (acc.38763), 1924 (acc.43239C), 1927 (acc.45943), at Sotheby's 9/12/1931, Lot 500 (part) and Phillip's sale, 5 Nov. 1999, lot 694 (acc.351381).

Lectures in Midwifery by William Lowder, 1780-1805, in some cases collaborating with John Haighton.

The papers are available subject to the usual conditions of access to Archives and Manuscripts material, after the completion of a Reader's Undertaking.
