The Hamilton letters, 1748-1788, comprising 3 letters from John Hunter to Professor William Hamilton (1758-1790), 1783-1788; 3 letters from the donor Louisa Hamilton to Sir Arthur Keith, 1928; letter from Reverend William Hamilton, Minister of Bothwell, to his son Thomas Hamilton (d 1782), 18 Oct 1748; 2 letters and transcripts from Dr William Irvine to Thomas Hamilton (d 1782), 1771; 4 letters from William Hamilton (1758-1790) to his mother, 1777-[1778] and 7 letters to his father, 1777-[1778], referring to his activities in London, including his acquaintance with William and John Hunter and the attendance of their lectures.

Papers of Charles Wilkinson, 1787-1788, comprising a volume containing manuscript notes by Wilkinson, of lectures given by John Hunter. Including a note by William White Cooper written in 1838, containing information about the author, the lectures, and how he located the manuscript.

Papers of Jacob Vale Asbury, 1816-1843, comprising a manuscript volume by Asbury, containing notes of the lectures of John Abernethy given at St Bartholomew's, 25 Jul 1816; notes titled Observations on the Pulse, by Dr Fordyce, 18 Sep 1816; notes titled Lectures on the Principle Operations of Surgery by Sir Everard Home, 1812; notes titled Cases and Original Observations, 1842; tables of statistics on the population of Enfield, and Great Britain; and mathematical calculations on the cubic inches of water in a box.

Papers relating to Alexander Monro secundus, 1776-1784, comprising a 2 volumes of manuscript notes titled Lectures of Surgery by Alexander Monro MD, Professor of Anatomy and Surgery in the University of Edinburgh; transcribed from the copy of his lectures as taken down in short hand by Mr Thorburn in the year 1776. With additional abbreviations delivered during the years 1781-2-3 and 4 by James Curry, both containing a pen and ink portrait of Monro, and covering topics such as teeth, sutures, lithotomy, caesarean section, spinal injuries, ranula, trepanning, cupping, and inoculation.

Working papers and correspondence of Sir John Henry Gaddum. The scientific material in the collection centres on a run of student and laboratory notebooks for 1922-1965, together with files of notes and calculations on biological assay and other topics. Further papers concentrate on Gaddum's teaching and publications in the form of lecture scripts, typescripts of articles and related correspondence. Material on his administrative work includes correspondence on conferences and organizations, with some Royal Society papers, but also Physiological Society letters, 1936-1941. Non-paper records such as slides and personal souvenirs are also preserved.
