This collection comprises plans and maps produced by the London County Council, the Metropolitan Board of Works and other associated official bodies. The plans are generally duplicates or 'strays' which have become divorced from their departmental context. Before transfer to the Archive the plans were brought together in one records room at County Hall.

This collection comprises plans and maps produced by the London County Council, the Metropolitan Board of Works and other associated official bodies. The plans are generally duplicates or 'strays' which have become divorced from their departmental context. Plans and maps produced by various departments of the London County Council and the Metropolitan Board of Works, 1867-1965, including plans of bridges, memorials, County Hall, exhibition, fire brigade stations, housing estates, embankments, parks, sewers, water supply, railways, tramways, tube railways, electricity supply, gas supply, schools, and institutions. Maps relating to local government functions such as boundaries of metropolitan boroughs and parishes, district surveyors and town planning. Plans and maps relating to the Royal Commission of the Port of London, the Royal Commission on London Traffic and the Royal Commission on London Transport.

Also portable photometer readings of illuminated power at various sites across London, made by the Chemical and Gas Departments of the Metropolitan Board of Works and then the London County Council. A photometer is an instrument for measuring the intensity of light, or for comparing the intensities of light from different sources.
