Records of the organisation known variously as the Polytechnic Sports Club, the The Institute of the Polytechnic Sports and Social Clubs, and The Polytechnic Sports Club Committee, as well as records of the Polytechnic's Men's and Women's Council, and Joint Council.

This collection includes all records relating to the organisation of sports and social activities by members of the Polytechnic except for records of the individual clubs themselves, which are catalogued as separate collections. However it does include correspondence with the clubs by the Secretary and Committees. This collection also includes papers relating to the award of Polytechnic-wide medals and trophies, including the Elsie Hoare Trophy, Studd Trophy and Ditchman Trophy.

The collection was assembled and annotated by Leslie Henry. The items mostly relate to Joseph Stacey, but a few concern Henry. The largest group is of photographs, with a few cuttings, relating to the evacuation of Regent Street Polytechnic School of Hairdressing to Winscombe in Somerset from 1939-1942; a few letters, photographs and cuttings relating to the careers of Stacey and Henry, 1938-1975.

The Colonial Research papers, 1943-1963, contain administrative papers relating to various colonial interests concerning Great Britain. The majority of the papers consist of minutes, agendas, correspondence and further memorandum, although there is also a section containing the general administrative papers of Postgraduate Studentships within the boundaries of Colonial Research.

Political papers and correspondence regarding Reginald Prentice's de-selection by his Newham North East constituency, the 1976 Labour Party conference on Blackpool, his defection to the Conservative Party and general political activities.

On page 416 of volume one, the date 1814 occurs, which is stated to be 'l'année dernière'. Produced in Paris.

Notes of lectures on the Practice of Physic, taken down by Albert Wilson [1854-1928]. The notes are written round pasted-in cuttings from private proofs of lectures, 'for the use of Dr. Grainger Stewart's Class of Practice of Physic'. Produced in Edinburgh.

'Cours d'anatomie pathologique...', transcribed by Augustin Palle, a medical student, year 10. An apparently complete transcript of Bichat's final course of lectures on pathological anatomy, delivered at the Hôtel-Dieu, Paris, between September 1801 and the spring of 1802. Palle must have written up his notes sometime between 1 August 1802 (the date of a letter from Bonaparte copied before the text) and 22 September 1802 (the last day of year 10). The arrangement of the text broadly conforms to that of the version published by F.-G. Boisseau, Anatomie pathologique, dernier cours de Xavier Bichat (Paris, 1825).

Reports, diaries, memoirs, photographs and memorabilia given to the Royal Army Medical Corps Museum and Library by former officers and men of the Corps. Some date back to Marlborough's campaigns of the late 17th century; there is also material relating to the continuing European and Imperial conflicts of the 18th and early 19th centuries, the Crimean War (1854-1856), the Boer War and the Balkan conflicts of the early 20th century, the two World Wars, the Korean War and other smaller conflicts thereafter.

Some also contain transcript information giving course codes and marks, others include a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) file, or a withdrawal form, if applicable. Information contained on record cards typically includes name, date of birth, nationality, parents' occupation, matrimonial status, USR number, date of entry, field of study, permanent address, qualification sought, department, session, results, tutor, scholarships, qualification obtained, previous education and a photograph.
