Records of the Canada Company, comprising constitutional documents, minutes, share records, bills of exchange and deeds.

Records of the Coal Factors' Society, beginning in 1761 and consisting of minutes, attendance books, letter books, rules and regulations, an account of market dues at the Coal Exchange, financial records including ledgers and cash books, factors' day and entry books, factors' and meters' postage books, an alphabetical list of ships giving gross and net tonnage, lists of named ships with total monthly cost to each factor, comparative lists of the highest prices of best house coals taken for each, contracts made with various persons for the supply of barges, beams, weights, a Tilbury signal code book, and newspaper cuttings. There are no records for the period 1790-1831.

The collection also includes a register of names, destinations and owners of ships, and weight of coal shipped from Newcastle, 1702-4, Ms 30689, which had been found amongst the archives of the Coal Factors' Society and Coal Meters' Committee. It predates both bodies and appears to have been collected as a curio.

Papers of the Coal Meters' Committee, including minutes, letter books, cash books, ledgers, books of notices and orders, ships' registers, records of coal exports and imports, and papers relating to the reorganisation of the Coal Meters' Office.

The records of the Coal Meters' Benefit Society, the Coal Meters' Provident Club and the Coal Meters' Office Protection Branch also form part of the archives of the Coal Meters' Committee. The Benefit Society records consist chiefly of minutes, resolutions touching amendments to the constitution, statements of account and correspondence relating to the Coal Meters' Benefit Society and Widows' Aid Fund. The Provident Club records contain a copy of rules, nomination form counterfoil book and account book. The Protection Branch records consist of annual reports, ledger accounts and cash books.

Records of the Corporation of Insurance Brokers, comprising constitutional documents, minutes, annual reports and accounts, financial material, membership records and other administrative papers.

Records of the Federation of Commonwealth Chambers of Commerce, which comprise annual reports, minutes and reports of conferences.

Records of the Foreign Banks and Securities Houses Association including minutes, correspondence, annual reports, circulars and newsletters. Many of the correspondence files concern matters of general interest to the Association members, such as fraud and money laundering, taxation, liquidity, securities, mergers, foreign exchange and currency, supervision and regulation, banking codes of practice, legislation, and so on.

Access to records less than 30 years old should be sought from the Association of Foreign Banks (contact details may be obtained from staff).

Records relating to estates owned by Christs Hospital in East Bedfont, including letters, reports, leases, deeds and valuations.

Records of the Canons Park Estate Company Limited, 1640-1929, including printed copy of the abstract of title of the Canons Park Estate Co to "all that capital messuage or mansion house called "Canons" with the park gardens, pleasure grounds, lodges, stables and outhouses, buildings, lands and hereditaments thereto belonging situate in the parishes of Little Stanmore and Great Stanmore", 1860-1898; lease of Canons Manor by Sir Robert Stone, 1640; various assignments of term and conveyances; letter from James Drake of Canons Park to the Parish Overseers suggesting that 100 poor children of the parish of Little Stanmore should be employed in the lace making industry, 1813; report on local charities by Committee appointed by Great Stanmore Parish Council to Sir John Fitzgerald, Chairman of Great Stanmore Parish Council, 1929; legal documents and accounts relating to land in Wirksworth, Stafford, Derbyshire and Lincoln.

Records of the Alexandra Palace Concert Society of German Internees, including concert programmes, retrospect of the Concert Society including names of musicians, lists and analysis of works performed, and watercolour portrait by a prisoner.

Papers of the Robinson and Ramsay families, including deeds for Worton House and other lands in Isleworth, Twickenham and Hounslow; a deed of trust for the Robinson Charity, Isleworth; and deeds for Robson family property in Marylebone and Bray, Berkshire.

This collection comprises the title deeds of various small pieces of land in Enfield (and also Herts, Essex and Whitechapel) which have, at different times in the past, become the property of the parish of Enfield for charitable purposes, together with leases and appointments of trustees. They were kept in the parish chest until the end of the nineteenth century, as is shown by an old label noting that a bundle of deeds was removed from the parish chest in 1903. The deeds have an exceptional interest and value for the history and topography of Enfield.

Receipts for various taxes paid in Middlesex, 1566-1724; also certificate by Lord Berkeley that he has examined the accounts of John Billington, Chief Bailiff and Clerk of the Peace in the Tower Liberty, 1762; printed list of members of the Worshipful Company of Merchant Taylors, 1783 and letter from Sir Robert Peel concerning his intention to offer himself as a candidate for the County of Middlesex, 1832.

Minute book and an account book for the Poors Piece Charity, Hanwell.

Scrapbook relating to the Enfield Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society, including theatrical programmes, playbills and newspaper cuttings of reviews for performances by both the Society and other operatic and theatrical societies.

Records of the Greater London Council (GLC) Staff Dramatic Club. The collection comprises a complete series of minute books from 1903, financial accounts, scrapbooks of programmes, notices, reviews, a rehearsal register and correspondence.

Records of the Ealing Horticultural Society, comprising financial accounts, correspondence, annual reports, and registers of awards and prizes.

The records in this collection relate to the Imperial Yeomanry School from 1904 to 3 March 1931 and to the subsequent Imperial Benevolent Fund for 4 August 1931-12 December 1934. They comprise administrative and financial records, including admission registers and log books. From the names in the admission registers it can be seen that boys had not been admitted by 4 September 1925. The addresses in the register show that although the school was in Middlesex, entrance was not limited to those who lived in Middlesex.

Records of the Hornsey Housing Trust, including minutes of the Committee of Management; shares prospectuses; rules of the Trust; annual reports; and financial accounts.

Records of the London Fire Brigade Widows and Orphans Fund, including minutes; annual reports; rules; subcription books; cash books; retirement fund accounts; and distress fund accounts.

Records of the Christian Brotherly Society, including minutes, financial accounts, membership records, correspondence, Parliamentary Acts relating to Friendly Societies, menu and programme for Annual Dinner, 1883.

Records of the Mary Westby Trust, including trustees' records, records relating to property, volumes of collected documents relating to the Trust, financial accounts, and correspondence with the Charity Commission.

Records of the London Council of Social Service and related organisations. The records reflect the variety and depth of activity undertaken by the LCSS. There is a good range of committee minutes, correspondence files and publications. The correspondence files approximate to the various departments although the contents of each one can be quite diverse.

Records of the Jewish Bread Meat and Coal Society, 1797-1954. The collection consists of minutes, financial records, correspondence, reports, copies of the Laws of the Society and other general material.

Records of the Sutton Housing Trust, consisting of a fine series of minutes and accounts. In particular there are detailed registers of tenants (including information on income and employment), hundreds of photographs of estates and developments and correspondence giving advice from people such as Octavia Hill and Charles Booth.

Records of the Victoria Club, Jewish community centre and youth club, 1901-1991. Records include daily log book; membership books; papers of the Council and Executive; papers relating to building development including transfer of the Club from Stepney to Hackney; financial records; papers relating to youth club activities; papers of the Victoria (Hackney) Kosher Meals on Wheels service; papers of the Senior Citizens Club, the Victoria Centre for Adults, and Hampstead Victoria; fundraising papers and memorabilia.

Records of Alan Payling relating to the London Transport Workers Union. Papers in this collection cover three main areas of interest, Stamford Hill Bus Garage, TGWU Branch 1/312, Public Transport Workers Jobs Campaign (Leaside District) and trade union publications such as Busworker and Transport Worker. The main archival interest of the collection are the branch resolutions of Stamford Hill Bus Garage, TGWU Branch 1/312.

Minutes and accounts of the Hackney Carriages Proprietors Benevolent Fund, later the Hackney Carriage Proprietors' Provident Institution. The minute books give details of the general administration of the Fund. They include descriptions of individual cases of hardship.

The Hackney Carriages Proprietors Benevolent Fund appears, as its name suggests, to have been open to proprietors of hackney carriages only rather than to all hackney carriage drivers. Clearly, however, many proprietors of only a few hackney carriages would also have been engaged in driving their own vehicles.

Among the items recorded in the minute books of the Fund can be found details of ordinary members including brief professional details of individuals wishing to join the Fund, names of members or dependants to whom regular payments were made, and brief reports on the circumstances of member or dependants on their first application for a grant. There are also brief notices of the deaths of members.

The biggest draw-back of these minute books is that they are not indexed and therefore speculative searches are likely to take a long time.

Records of the Ruislip Cottagers Allotments Charity, including minutes, leases, correspondence and accounts.

Records of the Union of Post Office Workers, comprising records of several local branches of the Union and an interesting variety of branch newsletters and journals. These reflect the wide range of activities which once came under the Post Office, such as the cable room branch and the telephonists branch; and also include mutual benefit societies and benevolent funds.

Papers of the Hampstead Garden Suburb Trust. This collection consists of wide ranging material which documents the creation of Hampstead Garden Suburb and its growth and development during the twentieth century.

The records refer to the Hampstead Garden Suburb Trust's activities; the family papers of Samuel and Henrietta Barnett; the suburb organisations; the suburb recreational socities; the Henrietta Barnett school; the Institute; and the Wellgarth Nursery Training College. There are printed sources and oral history sources which can be referred to.

This collection contains a significant number of plans: plans of the suburb; plans of licence applications for proposed alterations; area plans of the suburb; and RIBA photographs of Lutyens drawings for the church.

There is also a large collection of photographs. These include subjects related to the suburb as well as images of the suburb itself.

Records of Spalding and Hodge, stationers, 1781-1911; and subsidiary or merged companies including Busbridge and Hodge, papermakers and Suttaby and Company, booksellers. Also records of the Stationers' Book Society. The records include business agreements, legal documents relating to properties, wages books, cash books, stock books, bills, rules and regulations for staff, letters patent, brochures about Spalding and Hodge and their history, inventories, correspondence and price lists. Stationers' Book Society records comprise minutes, accounts, and an address by Thomas Spalding.

Records of the Ancient Society of College Youths, including membership books, peal books, minutes, and notes on the history of the Society.

The records were microfilmed in 1985 and 2003. Mss 21656-7A and 33992 are positive copy microfilms and microfiche presented to the Archive by the Society, which has retained the master negatives and the original manuscripts. Permission to take reproductions from the films or to publish extracts from the records should be sought from the Society's Hon. Secretary (please ask staff for further information).

Ms 20514 is a series of printed pamphlets recording the history of the Society in a summary form, 1955-ca. 1974.

They were catalogued at various dates from 1983 by members of Guildhall Library staff. Access to records should be sought from the Society (contact details may be obtained from the enquiry desk).
