Papers of author and journalist Paul Tabori (1908-1974), comprising the following: draft typescripts of novels, poetry and works of fiction, 1927-1973; draft typescripts of completed short stories, ideas and fragments for fiction works, 1938-1970; typescripts of non-fiction works, including typescripts of completed books on a variety of topics covering the supernatural, travel, crime, historical and biographical topics and erotica, along with draft non-fiction fragments and ideas, 1930-1973; typescripts of articles for magazines on various subjects including crime, travel, erotica, the supernatural, historical and biographical topics, along with interviews with international political and celebrity figures, 1940-1969; typescripts of film scripts, screenplays or ideas written or edited by Tabori, including scripts for Hammer and London Films, along with stills [photographs] from some of the productions, 1944-1960; typescripts and working scripts written or edited by Tabori for television and radio plays, including material broadcast in the television series, the Errol Flynn Theatre and The Vise, along with stills [photographs] accompanying the working scripts, 1950-1970.

A substantial collection on cinema compiled by Deac Rossell, consisting of a collection of published books, pamphlets and ephemera and a collection of manuscripts. The print collection is wholly international in scope, containing predominantly post-1950 material, including many reference works, on the history of motion pictures. The collection has both diversity and depth. There are significant holdings on several topics, including animated films, documentary, studio histories, British cinema, Asian cinemas, Indian cinema, Arab cinema and black films and filmmaking of all types including African-American cinema and African national cinemas. Within these thematic groups, the few English-language histories or director studies are mostly present, sometimes backed up with substantial works in other languages; a feature of most of these themes are monographs on individual filmmakers from small publishers and/or unusual sources. There is also a group of film festival catalogues from the 1980s and 1990s, where there are often significant essays on national cinemas or current productions which have never been published in book form - such as the excellent writing on Hong Kong films and filmmakers from the elaborate catalogues published by the film festival in that city. Extensive filmographies can be found in the collection of directories and festival programmes from around the world. There are more than 850 books in total and around 1,000 pamphlets and programmes. There is a collection of posters included and also 10 manuscripts, including that of Deac Rossell’s work 'Living pictures: origins of the movies', 1996.

The material mainly consists of items created and acquired during the course of Joy's work on film and television productions. These include the Thunderbirds television series, She, Fahrenheit 451, 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Vengeance of She, Mackenna's Gold, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, and Erik the Viking. The series relating to 2001: A Space Odyssey is the most extensive.

A smaller number of personal items, and later additions about the projects and people she worked with are included.

The material takes the form of notebooks and sketchbooks, photographic material, film frames, press cuttings, artists equipment, and props.

This collection comprises the following films produced and made by the Dagenham Co-operative Film Society:

'The Seeds of Time' was the first film made by the Dagenham Film Co-operative Society. It includes scenes of local children at school and at home, and in doing so provides an insight into family life on the Becontree Estate, Dagenham (1948). This film was commissioned by and produced in association with the Borough of Dagenham.

'Dagenham Festival' was made by the Dagenham Film Co-operative Society (1951). It includes scenes of historical pageant at Valence House, Dagenham held to celebrate the Festival of Britain, as well as other social events, sporting competitions and football matches that took place during the same year. Also depicting stalls and the procession during the Dagenham Town Show. This film was commissioned by and produced in association with the Borough of Dagenham.

'Our Year' was made by the Dagenham Film Co-operative Society (1957). It includes scenes relating to the activities and functions of Dagenham Borough Council. Also depicts the celebrations in the borough surrounding the Dagenham Town Show. This film was commissioned by and produced in association with the Borough of Dagenham.

'Time to Play' was made by the Dagenham Film Co-operative Society (1960). It includes scenes that show how local parks, swimming pools, athletic tracks and other leisure sites were managed and maintained by the Parks and Leisure Department of Dagenham Borough Council. This film was commissioned by and produced in association with the Borough of Dagenham.

'Help Yourself to Health' was made by the Dagenham Film Co-operative Society (1963). It includes scenes relating to health services, such as antenatal and postnatal classes, as well as child welfare, nursery schools, school meals, immunisation, clean fuel and food hygiene initiatives that were available to residents in Dagenham. This film was commissioned by and produced in association with the Borough of Dagenham.

'Playtime' was made by the Dagenham Film Co-operative Society (1969). It includes scenes of local children skipping, doing handstands and playing 'leap frog' in the playground at an unidentified school in Dagenham. This film was commissioned by and produced in association with the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.
