Their reminiscences cover the closure of the radiotherapy department at Westminster and the re-organisation of the National Health Service in the 1980s, as well as their early years and the work of cancer therapy under Cade.

Papers of Bernard Lewis Williams, 1942-1945, including case book containing patient records, with enclosed memorabilia; the case-book is described by Mr Williams as `my private record of cases of special interest concerning which I requested follow-up information', but was continued for another two months after his departure from the unit.

Follow-up cards for most of the cases were attached to the relevant pages of the volume. For conservation reasons, these and the other enclosures have been removed to separate folders (GC/172/2-3).

Mr Williams also allowed copies to be made of text and photographs from a scrapbook which he had put together of his service with No 6 Field Surgical Unit (FSU), and of loose photographs, including transparencies.

Papers of Derek Richter including photocopies of scrapbooks regrading the Neuropsychiatric Research Centre; and a privately published autobiography, (1989). Richter began compiling his albums in 1950. They include photographs of the Research Centre at Cardiff and Carshalton, press cuttings, some correspondence, publications by the Centre and ephemera. The first album includes material relating to the earlier history of the Whitchurch Hospital.

The writer, Rosa Louise Hunt, describes her service with the Voluntary Aid Detachment from 25 Nov 1915 until 5 Mar 1916, in Malta, beginning with the news that she was being posted to a military hospital abroad, but breaking off abruptly while she was still in Malta.

Papers of Dr Milne-Redhead, 1945-1972, comprising an incomplete set of accounts of Milne-Redhead's single-handed practice at Mainsriddle, by Dumfries. The two earlier books are informal records of income and expenditure with simple lists of incoming and outgoing payments (including household, family and private expenses) plus year-end analyses. These possibly represent a larger series of rough account books, from which the numbered series of cash books were prepared, which seems likely given that there is an overlap between GP/55/2 and GP/55/3, which both cover the year 1963.

Among the latter are 17 holograph receipts, dated between 1830 and 1832 by Jules Sichel [1802-1868], the ophthalmologist. These were all prescribed for Lady Julia.
