Papers of Edith Bülbring including correspondence, laboratory notes, lectures and other papers covering life and career in England after 1933, with J H Burn at the Pharmaceutical Society, 1933-1938, and at Oxford University, 1938-1981. Most of the material in the collection relates to Edith Bülbring's career in England between 1938 and 1981. Her early family life in Germany is represented by items A.4/1-2 and A.5, which indicate her linguistic and musical talents. There are no records of her career in Germany, nor at the Pharmaceutical Society in London (1933-1938). However, laboratory notebooks (although an incomplete series), reports made for organisations supporting her work, and publications and lectures all describe her later research.

Also includes other items, included from annotated copies of the 3rd and 4th editions of 'The Record of the Royal Society', from which the Roll derived its arrangement: lists of Medical Fellows, and Fellows who did not sign the Charter Book: and biogrphical accounts of the Auldjo family, with various rough notes by Bulloch. The Roll provides a chronological list of the Fellowship by date of election. It records the Fellow's name as it appeared in 'The Record' and in a corrected form, giving the date of election and positions held in the Society. The Roll also provides a short biography based on entries in standard printed works of reference, (such as 'The Dictionary of National Biography', Cockayne's 'Peerage' and 'Baronetage', 'The Gentleman's Magazine', 'Munks Roll of the Royal College of Physicians', Boase's 'Modern English Biography', and the volumes of 'Who's Who' and 'Who Was Who').

Photocopy of typescript diary of a visit to South Africa by Ralph Johnson Bunche, 1 October - 31 December 1937, recording the impressions of an African American on South Africa; subjects include race relations; black living conditions in the reserves, mines and townships; black political and labour leaders and organisations, education, health care and the legal system. There is an account of the Silver Anniversary meeting of the African National Congress in Bloemfontein in December 1937.

Papers of the Bunhill Fields Burial Ground. The records comprise: interment order books and registers of burials, [1671]-1854; accounts, 1788-1854; and a volume concerning stones taken out, 1840-1854. There are also records of monumental inscriptions, 19th century, together with alphabetical index of surnames based on a tomb survey of 1972, with plans, 1973, which are useful for locating surviving monuments.

The archive consists of correspondence (1872-c.1893) comprising 16 letters.

Most of the letters have no year given in the date.

The letter from Mrs Fawcett dated 1 Feb is written from Cambridge, but obviously after she and her husband moved to London, since she says she wishes to speak at meetings only in suburban places from where she can easily return home in the evening.

The collection comprises diaries of William Hugh Burgess, a fifteen-year old boy from a family of Huguenot descent, who lived in Marylebone in the late eighteenth-century. They are rare examples of historical diaries written by a child.

In what became part of his daily routine from January 1788 until October 1790, William wrote about himself and his everyday life, simply recording what he did and what he saw.

Papers and correspondence, 1948-1980, of Eric Henry Stoneley Burhop, relating to his interests outside his scientific research. The collection comprises biographical material on Burhop's interest in furthering rapprochement between East and West, principally relating to the 'passport case' when, owing to Burhop's involvement in the atomic energy project in 1944-1945, the Foreign Office withdrew his passport on the eve of a visit to the Soviet Union in 1951, causing a libel case arising from his treatment by the press; papers relating to the award of the Lenin Peace Prize to Burhop in 1972; correspondence on the possible nomination of Bertrand Russell for the World Peace Council's International Peace Prize, 1957; and documentation of the Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs, largely the first conference of 1957, including the role of the World Federation of Scientific Workers in its organisation, and manuscript notes of the proceedings. There are no records of his scientific research or scientific correspondence.
