Premises records for Whitbread and Company Limited, brewers, including various title deeds and documentation for property owned by Whitbread and Company, ledgers detailing property, rents, repairs and valuations, papers relating to the North Brewery Project and plans of Company premises organised by region.

Records of Whitbread and Company Limited, brewers, relating to advertising, memorabilia and personal records, including substantial albums and guard books with Whitbread and Company advertising and labelling from 1935 through to 1980, newscuttings book of adverts commissioned (1921-1996), photographs of premises (1930-1979) and correspondence relating to advertising campaigns. Also included are published histories of the Company from both the nineteenth and twentieth century. This collection also includes the Whitbread Archivist's research files on public houses in the London area, subsidary companies and individuals associated with Whitbread and Company.

Records of Stowells and Sons, wine and spirits merchants, comprising a range of company records from 1845 to 1976 including records covering corporate and financial business, sales and production, staff, property and advertising, as well as records from companies acquired by Stowells from the 1930s onwards including Ellis, Wilson and Bacon Limited, Findlater, Mackie and Company Limited, E. Robins and Sons Limited and Apain and Albury Limited.

Records of Forest Hill Brewery Company Limited, including corporate minutes and registers, share certificates, accounts, trade books and property ledgers.

Board minutes and financial accounts for the Central Catering Company, dating from 1905-1907.

Records relating to the Bell Brewery, Tottenham, consisting of title deeds for property including documents on the Bell Brewery itself, employee name and wages books from the 1880s through to the 1900s, a claims book (1903-1953) and a summary record of sales from 1934 to 1957.

Records consist of farm accounts (1920-1937) and stud book listing the pedigree of mares from Theydon Hall Farm.

Records of Frederick Leney & Sons, brewers, consisting of printed reports and balance sheets for the period of 1925 to 1959.

Records of Dale and Company Limited, brewers, consisting of accounts sheets from the mid-1920s through to the 1950s.

Records of Douglas Ritchie Limited, construction company, including papers relating to the acquisition of the Company by Flowers Brewery, accounts and annual returns, and correspondence relating to planning and building.

Records relating to the International Bookfair of Radical Black and Third World Books, including original programmes, stationery, correspondence and notes from members of The Alliance and from artists and those who attended the conferences. Also listings of families and individuals who provided accommodation for artists and rotas for the staffing of the Fairs.

The programmes are an excellent resource for information about the social and political issues that were of concern to Black people living in London in the 1980s and 1990s. They show the international links and connections between individuals of different artistic disciplines.

The development of the organisation and it's influence on diverse groups in the community are well documented in the correspondence and minutes; LMA/4462/M/01 and 02.

The photographs are both formal and informal. They show the Fair in action and special guests and artists performing or speaking at the different events. One album was put together by a participant as a gift to the Huntleys.

The press cuttings give valuable information on how the Fairs were being received by the Black community and others in London and internationally. There is an exclusive interview with Sonia Sanchez and an article by Margaret Busby which gives an historical overview of the Fair.

Records of Hansib Publications Limited, including issues of the African Times, Asian Times and Caribbean Times; and publications on a variety of topics relating to Asia, Africa, South America and the Caribbean including poetry, literary studies, history, politics, diaspora, music, sport, law, society, colonialism, racism, slavery and travel. Also some promotional and publicity material.

Records of the Thomas Martyn Foundation, including minutes of the trustees 1716-1972; correspondence 1887-1939, 1955-1977; accounts 1863-1893, 1904-1947; copy will of Thomas Martyn; reports on the school 1883-1909; apprenticeship register and indentures, 1878-1932; pupils' birth certificates; exhibition items; printed material and photographs.

Records of the Amalgamated Engineering Union. The collection has large gaps in the records. However, most of the material contains valuable details on engineers who were members of the union, and on those receiving benefits, for reasons including illness, accidents and deaths.

Records of Reader Brothers, builders, 1895-1980. The collection consists of three main types of record: There is administrative material which includes both the 'formal' records of Reader Brothers (Builders) Limited, such as the Memorandum and Articles of Association, Minutes of meetings, Registers of Members and records relating to shares; as well as various accounts ledgers, cash, petty cash and wages books, diaries and notebooks.

Secondly there are files, planning applications and other legal documents - some with plans attached.

Then there are books and other printed material related to the building trade and lastly there are plans and drawing of housing projects undertaken by the company.

Records of Pioneer Trading Company Limited, comprising minutes of Board meetings and Directors' meetings, 1914-1961.

Records of Beverlys Limited, including board meetings minute book, register of members, memorandum and articles of association, ledger and inventory. Records of J and W Nicholson and Company Limited, gin distillers, 1897-1986. This collection contains corporate and premises records. Corporate records comprise a change of name certificate and premises records include documents relating to individual public houses and premises, mortgage information and a plan of The Richmond Hotel, Hammersmith.

Records of Bloomsbury Book Auctions, 1951-2002. There are three series in the collection, the first (LMA/4449/01) covering the administration of the business, and the latter two (LMA/4449/02 and LMA/4449/03) dealing with the auctions and sales, including a series of catalogues.

Staff records of Whitbread and Company Limited, including salary books and ledgers giving information on weekly and monthly salaries over a range of time periods along with details of annuities, pensions and superannuation funds. There are also lists of employees from as early as 1841 (some of which are organised according to occupation), attendance books and information on ex-servicemen employed after the First World War along with sick pay and accident report books, and papers from the 1960s and 1970s detailing company employment policy.

This short series of scrapbooks cover the period 1887-1912 and contain invitations, cuttings and information on many of the social events that William Whitaker Thompson and his wife attended during his years in office.

This is a collection of records of various companies involved in the trading of Ceylon [now Sri Lanka] and Indian teas. It consists of import registers for an un-named company, auction catalogues for private trade teas and photographs of tea plantations, possibly in Ceylon, and the offices and staff of R.M. Holborn and Sons Limited, tea and coffee merchants.

Records of DeClermont and Donner Limited, manufacturers, importers and exporters of and dealers in leather, and their subsidiary companies, 1894-1995. The records include minutes, memoranda and articles of association, accounts, papers relating to shares, and correspondence.

Records of Lord Charles Latham, leader of the London County Council, consisting of reports, papers, correspondence, notebooks and diaries including photographs and press cuttings belonging to Lord Latham.

Records of Dame Alice Owen's Charity: The records include minutes, accounts, registers and estate papers. They are part of the archive of the Worshipful Company of Brewers (further information is given in the Company's introductory note). Records of John Baker's almshouses: These records are part of the archive of the Brewers' Company (further information is given in the Company's introductory note). They comprise: memoranda, 1881-9 (Ms 18360-1); deeds and associated documents, 1813-1901 (Ms 18363); specification for the construction of 7 almshouses, 1825 (Ms 18371); quarterly record of payments to almswomen, 1826-1908 (Ms 18372); list of applicants, 1901-2 (Ms 18373); and signed agreements and guarantees, 1826-61 (Ms 18374). Papers of Eastern and Australian Steamship Co Ltd, containing a copy of the 1873 mail contract with the Government of Queensland: the Memorandum and Articles of Association of the third company (1894) and some early account books, 1894 to 1898. Later accounting records include company returns, 1920 to 1969, and there are minutes of Board meetings, 1906 to 1969. Included in the tonnage data, 1948 to 1969, are the contract and hull specification for the ARAFURA, 1952 to 1953.

Lt William Edward Fiott's life is fully covered by this collection, which is composed largely of loose papers These consist of official service documents, material on Walcheren, both his courts martial, papers covering the RENEGADE period and a log, 1823 to 1824. There are extensive papers and volumes for the period when he was merchant ship master and owner, including legal agreements, crew lists and account and freight books. Finally, there are private letters received, 1809 and 1848, and yearly diaries, 1837 to 1847.

Papers of Capt George Alexander Waters, consisting of logs, 1842-1843, and 1852-1861. There are loose letters, 1857-1858, including those from Captain Peel and the officers of the Naval Brigade concerning the Indian Mutiny and a book in Chinese endorsed 'taken from the house three or four miles below Nanking, 26 Aug. 1842', which is a coal-merchant's receipt book.
