Anatomy by Henry Cline and Mr. Astley Cooper, Surgeons, 1804, St. Thomas's Hospital, Southwark, London, and by Henry Cline, Junior. (Vol. I.) The second volume contains notes of lectures, extracts, receipts, and some case-records at Guy's Hospital, by the same hand. Illustrated by a few rough pen-drawn anatomical figures, etc. The first volume is lettered on the spine: 'Anatomical Notes', and 'End of the first volume' is written on the last leaf of text. The second volume is lettered 'Notes.', and appears to be a continuation of another volume now missing. Some of the notes in this second volume are dated January and February 1805. Produced in London.

A course of lectures on the Principles and Practice of Surgery, delivered by Astley Paston Cooper and Benjamin Travers at the Theatre of St. Thomas's Hospital, during the years 1818-1819. Produced in London.

The collection comprises drawings and photographs concerning mosquitos and malaria, plus correspondence with Sir Rickard Christophers.

The archive spans Browne's career from school onwards, but the core series of records focus on his work as a medical missionary at the BMS hospital in Yakusu, Belgian Congo (now the Democratic Republic of Congo). Section B comprises records for the period 1938-1958, including registers of leprosy sufferers, case records and photograph albums documenting various symptoms. Section K contains further photographs (mainly clinical) for the period 1938-1977, the most important series of which dates from Browne's time at the Baptist Mission Hospital and comprises over 900 negatives and prints together with supporting documentation, 1954-1958.

Section C contains a small number of files compiled by Browne during his research into leprosy, yaws, onchocerciasis and ainhum, 1946-1983. Particularly notable are the files on the anti-leprosy drug B663 (now known as clofazimine), into the use of which Browne conducted pioneering studies whilst director of the Leprosy Research Unit, Uzuakoli, Eastern Nigeria, 1959-1966.The remaining records comprise personal and biographical material, 1923-1985 (section A); general subject files containing correspondence, reprints etc. on a wide variety of topics, 1948-1986 (section D); writings by Browne, 1935-1985 (section E); records of Browne's involvement with the International Leprosy Association, 1909-1985 (section F) and various other organisations, 1959-1986 (section G); records on foreign visits, 1965-1985 (section H); and a few files on religious matters, 1959-1984 (section J).

The archive consists predominantly of photocopies of manuscript and typescript lecture notes by Yates. Burges' papers, 1767-c.1790s, include records of his medical cases, 1769-75; Printed copy of the St George's Hospital Pharmacopoeia, with annotations by Burges, mid-late 18th century (c.1770s-80s); his lecture notes on various subjects, such as materia medica, Boerhaave's institutes, and the hydraulic and chemical systems, mid-late 18th century (c.1770s-90s); Notes on diseases, and on chemistry and materia medica, mid-late 18th century (c.1770s-90s).

Clark's papers, c.1870, consist of his notes of lectures on anatomy and physiology, in his hand. It is thought the lectures were delivered at the London Hospital.

Latham's papers, 1838-1871, include his casebook, 1838-39, and his lectures on fever and the pulse, in his hand, 1871.

Papers of the Arden Philosopical Lectures, c 1775-1800, comprising a volume of manuscript lecture notes titled Philosophical Lectures delivered by Mr Arden at Dursley. The notes discuss topics such as electricity, including the work of Dr Benjamin Franklin with lightning rods. The notes also cover the subjects of air and gases, commenting on the work of Dr Joseph Priestley relating to 'fixed airs' (carbon dioxide), 'inflammable air' (hydrogen), the effects of 'phlogiston' on the air, and 'dephlogisticated air' (oxygen). The volume is undated; Priestley's paper on his experiments with airs and gases was published in 1775.

2 manuscript volumes by unknown authors, mid 18th century, comprising a volume titled Division of Simple Vices containing notes on topics including 'On Medicaments', 'An Introduction to Physick', and detailed descriptions of diseases; and a volume bearing the name 'William [...] 1750', containing notes on topics including 'Of the Gout', and references to and extracts from publications including the London Practice of Physick, which was originally published in 1685. 'Fordyce' is written at the top of several pages, possibly referring to George Fordyce (1736-1802) who lectured on the practice of physick from 1764.

Mr Eyles' copy of Dr Joseph Adams account of Mr Hunter's Lectures on the Principles of Surgery, late 18th century- early 19th century, comprising a manuscript volume of notes taken at lectures on surgery given by John Hunter (1728-1793).

Papers of Thomas Keate, 1776-1816, comprising a volume of manuscript notes by Keate, taken at lectures on surgery by John Hunter, 1776; lectures by Thomas Keate, 1776-1777; and a letter from Keate of the Royal Hospital, Chelsea, to George Chandler, Chairman of the Board of Curators, 23 Oct 1816, describing the presentation of the volume to the College, upon the request of the Court of Assistants. The letter explains that the notes were taken over a period of years, and that afterwards, after consulting with the notes of a friend, Dr John Jebb, they were collated and improved. He also notes that he tried to convey the sentiments of the lectures by verbatim quotation from Hunter.

The Hunter Family Album, early- mid 20th century, comprising a scrapbook containing material relating to John and William Hunter.
