The files were created in the course of Shaw's work for Boots Pure Drug Company, and date mainly from the 1940s-1950s, though some original reference material has earlier dates. Included is material relating to Margaret Bondfield, legislation, working conditions, health, economics and trade unions. Some of the material has a Nottingham focus (e.g. press cuttings) reflecting the position of the Boots Head Office.
