Records of the Worshipful Company of Paviors. The records were compiled between 1565 and 1861, but they include a copy of the 1479 ordinances. They also include registers of freedom admissions; apprentice bindings from 1565; Court minute books; alphabetical lists of members, giving dates of freedom, addresses and trades; financial accounts and administrative papers.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING ACCESS: These records are stored at the Guildhall Library site rather than the LMA Clerkenwell site. Researchers wishing to access these records should do so at the Guildhall Library Rare Books table. The Library is open Monday to Saturday, 9:30 to 16:45. Researchers will need to have an Archives History Card or a Library Readers Card. An archivist will be available at Guildhall Library on Thursday mornings to answer any queries.

Records of the South West London Quarter Sessions, 1966-1971, comprising stopping up and diversion orders under the Highways Act 1959. The files usually contain a signed order, plans and correspondence. They relate to highways in Richmond, Kingston upon Thames, Surbiton, New Malden, Morden, Mortlake and Sutton.

Plans made by the Engineer's Department, West Ham Borough Council, 1894-1966. The collection includes building plans, site plans, proposals for projects and Ordnance Survey maps. The maps have been amended by the engineers to show proposals or extent of works. The proposals include swimming pools, recreation grounds, public baths, sewers, new roads and unemployment relief works. There is a large amount of material relating to Whipps Cross Hospital, including contract plans. A detailed index of the plans can be found in hard copy at the LMA Information Area.

Records of the Middlesex County Council Planning Department relating to the Rights of Way Survey, 1949-1964, including maps; statements; relevant legislation; objections to the first map and review of the Survey.

Papers of the Manchester Ship Canal Co, comprising mainly of printed papers, some with marginalia, as in the report of the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce on the 'excessive charges' of that port, 1879. Other material includes a detailed analysis of the cost of transit within the region, with a projected estimate of the gains a ship canal would bring, 1885; a copy of the initial bill to authorise the building of the canal, with promoters' case and petitions against, of the same date, as well as maps and plans of the line to be taken by the proposed cut. Copies of numerous bills presented before Parliament on behalf of the company, 1907 to 1956, some with petitions and evidence, are also to be found, together with a copy of the Act authorizing the Manchester City Corporation to lend the company money, 1891, and a report of the special committee appointed by the city to examine the affairs of the company, 1893. There are also some loose papers, including deeds of sale and conveyance, contracts, grants of easement; a register of mortgages, 1885; a shareholders' address book, 1915; a shareholders' prospectus, 1885; and arising out of litigation concerning the company, a number of reports of proceedings in the courts, 1891 to 1927. A collection of pamphlets, 1882, one or two items pertaining to the Bridgewater estates, a user's handbook of instructions, 1894, and a rule book, 1894, have also survived.

Records of the Proprietors of Battersea Bridge, 1842-1871, including a copy of a statement on tolls sent to the Committee of Metropolitan Bridges, copies of questions submitted on the Thames Navigation Act 1870 and on Albert Bridge, copy of an agreement and a copy memorial sent to the Examiners of Standing Orders for Private Bills of non-compliance with standing order.

Railway plans, consisting of two plans of Waterloo Station, the exterior and defaults of a window, and a plan of the proposed widening of Charing Cross Bridge.

Records of London and North Eastern Railway Company, 1926-1944. This series consists of 45 deeds, leases and licences to sublet company land, particularly for the British Empire Exhibition at Wembley, Blandford Square, Circus Road, Loudoun Road, Marlborough Hill, Wellington Road in St. Marylebone and Alexandra Road and Broadhurst Gardens in Hampstead. The majority of the deeds contain plans.

Records of the London and North Western Railway, comprising plans of alterations to premises owned by the Company in Adelaide Road, Alexandra Road and Finchley Road, all in the borough of Camden. The plans are undated but are thought to be 1910-1939.

Battersea Parish was responsible for the civil administration of Battersea until the creation of Battersea Metropolitan Borough Council in 1900. This collection includes records of: the Battersea Parish Vestry; the Battersea Parish Overseers of the Poor; the Battersea Workhouse, 1744-1835; the parish Churchwardens; Battersea Lammas Hall; the parish Surveyor of Highways; various charities within the parish; and other records relating to the civil administration of the parish.

The collection includes correspondence, deeds and miscellaneous records of Battersea Bridge, along with a number of records from other London bridges. There is also a small amount of material concerned with railways, canals, turnpikes and so on.

Please note that the original order of these items had been considerably disturbed, and whilst efforts have been made to ensure that all items included in the catalogue are still present it has not been possible to do so definitively. Some items may not have been filed with their correct reference number, and additional items may be included but are not on the catalogue.

This series contains correspondence, memoranda and extracts from minutes concerning current supplies for railways, modifications to Lots Road Power Station, the construction and improvement of substations, the installation of apparatus and electrical interference with broadcasting.
