Minute book for Chelsea Hospital for Women Clinical Society from the first meeting, 19 Feb 1923, to 8 Mar 1973, with inserts including menus for Society dinners, correspondence and a printed history of Chelsea Hospital for Women.

This collection contains City of London School for Girls administrative records (1895-2005), various printed material including school magazines (1890s-2006), visual material and artefacts including a large collection of photographs depicting pupils and staff (1890s-2004), records of societies connected to the school (such as Girl Guides and material of the City of London Old Girls' Association).

Records of particular interest are the Leaver's Service programmes which provide a fairly comprehensive list of pupils who attended the school. Also of interest are the prize giving programmes which are also useful for researching pupils and school magazines which provide detailed information on school activities, events and other developments.

This collection consists of items relating to Civil Partnership ceremonies in 2006: photographs, invitations, audio-visual recordings, celebration menus, registration forms, council registrar booklets. It also includes the participants' answers to a questionnaire about their civil partnership. The documented ceremonies and celebrations include those held in Kent (on International Women's Day, 2006); at Bromley Town Hall in Bow; in Hertfordshire and at the Liberal Jewish Synagogue, London. It also includes one folder of Civil Partnership ephemera.

The archive consists of entitled 'Unconventional Talks with a Modern DD' this typescript collated letters and reflections spanning 1905-1911 and was published in 1912. Addressed to a friend who was a clergyman (DD = Doctor of Divinity) the letters are critical of the Church's teaching with regard to women: in addition to suggesting revision of the Marriage Service they recommended reconsideration of women's place in the economic system and role within the Church Ministry. The letters show that after a woman friend had been deputized to cool the relationship, Isobel said farewell to her 'mentor' in Feb 1911.

Personal papers of Willoughby Hyett Dickinson, Lord Dickinson of Painwick. These papers reflect Dickinson's interests as a London County Councillor, an MP and a peer, and also his involvement in the London Liberal Federation, of which he was Chairman 1896-1918, the World Alliance for promoting International Friendship through the Churches and the League of Nations Union.

The archive consists of papers relating to the Guildhouse Fellowship and lecture tours of Dr Agnes Maude Royden. It includes Guildhouse Fellowship newsletters (1941, 1942, 1950) and lists of key events and speakers at the Guildhouse (1921-1940). Detailed letters from Daisy Dobson report home to friends and colleagues on travels in the United States of America and India during Royden's world lecture tour (1928). As well as providing information on Royden's schedule, the letters describe the landscape, people and culture of the countries they visit and comment with humour and frustration on the practicalities of their trip. A later letter describes sea travel during the Second World War for Royden's lecture tour of the United States of America (1941-1942).

Eileen Palmer birth control papers, 1912-2001. These papers constitute the residue of a much larger collection of papers relating to the birth control movement in Britain and internationally. Eileen Palmer, Olive Johnson, and Edith How-Martyn worked closely together in the Birth Control International Information Centre and Birth Control Worldwide organisations during the 1930s, and Palmer accompanied How-Martyn on one of her several tours of India to promote birth control. The collection therefore includes some How-Martyn papers, including biographical and personal material, some items on the campaign of the 1920s to persuade the Ministry of Health to permit contraceptive advice to be given in maternity clinics, and relating to her international tours, several files of Olive Johnson's correspondence (mainly with How-Martyn, but including other colleagues in the birth control movement), and a few files of Palmer's own papers. There are also some files of BCIIC and BCW papers, and a collection of publications and pamphlets, of which the provenance is not clear. This collection illuminates the international face of the British birth control movement during the 1930s.

The archive consists of a typescript of Dorothy Elliot's memoirs (1914-1969) in which she described a lifetime of work in organisations dealing with the problems of women in employment. Royal pardon granted to Sarah Evans, previously convicted at Middlesex Sessions of the Peace, 13 Feb 1798, of petty larceny, and sentenced to transportation for seven years.

The archive consists of one album containing 125 autograph letters written to Emily Faithfull (and a few to her father, the Revd Ferdinand Faithfull) over the period 1830s-1890s. The letters are from a wide range of individuals, including prime ministers and statesmen, medical men, artists, scientific and literary figures, clergymen and philanthropists. The collection is mostly comprised of diaries written by Florence Turtle between 1917 and 1980. The first three diaries (1917-1919) contain generally brief and sporadic entries. There are then no diaries for the years 1920-1928. From 1929 onwards the diaries contain more detailed entries. There are no diaries for the years 1944, 1946, 1948-1949, 1952-1954, 1962, 1964-1965, or 1967-1970. Florence writes in her diaries about her relationships with family and friends, her living situation, work life, social life, holidays, and local, national and international current events, and records her thoughts and feelings on various matters. Many of the diaries contain additional notes, clarifications and corrections made by Florence in the 1970s. Some of the diaries contain photographs, and also pencil illustrations by Florence. The collection also contains one volume in which Florence reviews the books she reads throughout 1936, and a volume entitled 'Book of Ideas', in which Florence has written quotations from various sources, and also glued newspaper cuttings. The remaining items in the collection are a set of photographs of Florence's family and friends, and a framed certificate of election to the Buyers Association of Great Britain.

The archive consists of photocopies of letters sent to Fraenkel by Pankhurst mainly concerned with an exhibition of the latter's paintings which Elsa organised and which was held in London in 1959. Includes a pastel drawing of Pankhurst by Fraenkel (c.1957).

Records of the Working Women's College, later known as the Frances Martin College for Women. The records listed here cover the history of the college from its foundation in 1874 until 1957, a period of 88 years. Minutes of council and AGMs from 1874 onwards, kept in the hand of Miss Frances Martin until 1920 almost without a break, annual prospectuses and an almost complete series of annual reports exist. These, together with college magazines and scrapbooks give a very full picture of the life and activities of the college since its foundation, and reveal the remarkable enthusiasm and dedicated service of all those who have been connected with it which have carried it forward successfully over the years through good times and bad.

The archive consists of notes for speeches, correspondence, press cuttings, Women's Social and Political Union papers, family records including photographs and objects, papers related to the arrest and imprisonment of both Franklin and Duval.

The collection mainly consists of a set of Isabel Fry's personal diaries and notebooks dating from 1878-1958. These are supplemented by letters to her friend Eugénie Dubois, c1930-1958, and a few publications and photographs. The diaries reflect all aspects of her life and career including her teaching activities and educational ideas; her preoccupations with political and social affairs, including political reform and emancipation in the East and in Turkey and Persia; her friendships with liberal intellectuals; and her involvement with anti-militarist movements, slum clearance, socialism and feminism. Also included are details of her relationship with her family, friends and their wider social circle.
