Also personnel files for individual staff members. Personnel files survive for personnel who worked for the Middlesex County Council Fire Brigade Department and who resigned from the service before the 31st March 1965. The personnel files of regular, uniformed staff who transferred from the Middlesex Brigade, in particular to the new London Fire Brigade in 1965, were passed onto their new employers at the time and do not survive in the MCC archive. The same applies to files of Auxiliary Fire personnel. Files concerning regular firemen have been kept in their entirety, apart from those for staff born before 1900 or whose deaths (not occurring at work) were reported in the files. The main records of the Fire Offices' Committee comprise minutes of general meetings, 1861-1979 (Ms 29452); sub-committee minute books, 1897-1978 (Ms 29454); circulars, 1873-1985 (Mss 29462-3); accounts, 1874-1973 (Mss 29464-73); a significant body of material relating to the administration of the tariffs, 1842-1983 (Mss 29476-84); and material relating to fire-testing and research, 1935-72 (Mss 29457-9). The general meetings minute books contain the minutes of the district committees and standing committees on tariffs (to ca. 1890), as well as minutes of the Glasgow Rate and Salvage Association and its predecessors (1861-1904) (see also CLC/B/017-14). The accounts concern not only the Fire Offices' Committee, but also associated organisations such as the London Wharf and Warehouse Committee, the Consequential Loss Committee and the Fire Offices' Committee (Foreign).

Notes on bibliographical references on the topography of London in the seventeenth century.

The collection contains notes by Sir Charles Firth, c 1886-1910. They concern chiefly the foreign relations of Great Britain with various European powers including Holland, Germany, Italy, Austria-Hungary and Spain from the sixteenth to the twentieth centuries.

Papers relating to Sir Raymond Firth's research and professional career, including field notes and papers relating to Firth's research on the Tikopia, the Malayan peasantry and the New Zealand Maori; field notes and papers relating to Firth's studies of London kinship; texts of lectures and seminar papers delivered by Firth; subject files compiled by Firth; papers relating to relating to Firth's involvement with various academic and professional institutions, including the Association Of Social Anthropologists, the Australian National University, the Colonial Office, the Colonial Social Science Research Council, the West India Social Survey, and the London School of Economics and Political Science; correspondence, including correspondence with Bronislaw Malinowski and other professional colleagues. The collection also includes field notes, diaries and other papers relating to Rosemary Firth's research on the domestic economy of the Malayan peasantry.

Fischler papers, c 1941, comprise copies of identity card applications for Ewa and Henryk Fischler, Polish-Jewish residents of Krakau.

Papers of Janina Fischler-Martinho, comprise a personal account of her life in the Cracow ghetto during World War Two, probably written in the post-war period, in which she recounts a story about a silver spoon which she discovered on a return visit to Cracow, and which was donated to the Jewish Museum in Camden Town, London.
